NFL Power Rankings Week 6: Is AFC or NFC the League's Strongest Conference?
Through five weeks of the 2011 NFL season, it is fairly obvious which conference reigns supreme. If you go by my power rankings, it is actually not even close, as the NFC occupies three of the top four spots on the list.
The Green Bay Packers are currently 5-0 and have shown themselves to be the NFL's best team. Led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his NFL-best 122.9 quarterback rating, Green Bay's offense is averaging 428.6 yards per game (fourth in the league) and is scoring a league-high 34.6 points per game.
Right now, the Packers don't appear they can be stopped, and they even have a win over the team occupying the No. 2 spot in my rankings, the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints are 4-1, and though they have been tested in wins over the Houston Texans and Carolina Panthers, they still have slipped away with victories. New Orleans is averaging 452 yards per game (second in the NFL) and scoring 31.4 points per game.
Until Drew Brees and company are stopped, they'll hold on to the second spot in the rankings, since their only loss came against the top-ranked Packers.
The Detroit Lions improved to 5-0 with their 24-13 Monday night win over the Chicago Bears. They come in at No. 4 on my list, giving the NFC a huge advantage right now.
While the AFC may have more depth right now, the NFC has three top teams that have looked outstanding so far.
Teams like the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers and Baltimore Ravens have moved to the top of the AFC, but the Packers, Saints and Lions all make the NFC the stronger conference at the top.
