Fantasy Football Week 6 Rankings: Top 10 Players at Every Position

Gary DavenportOct 10, 2011

Week 5 of the 2011 season brought us another exciting week of football action, with fantasy stars such as Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson showing yet again why they're the cream of the crop at their respective positions.

However, the past is the past, and it's time to start gearing up for this week, so with no further ado, here's an early look at the top 10 fantasy options at each position for Week 6 of the 2011 season.

1. Aaron Rodgers and the Top 10 Quarterbacks

1 of 6

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had another huge game on Sunday night, carving up the Atlanta Falcons for 396 yards and two touchdowns, and with a matchup on tap with a St. Louis Rams defense that has lost its top two cornerbacks to injuries, he's the top fantasy football signal-caller this week.

1. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (vs. STL)

2. Tom Brady, New England Patriots (vs. DAL)

3. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (at TB)

4. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (at ATL)

5. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (at NE)

6. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (vs. SF)

7. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buffalo Bills (at NYG)

2. Adrian Peterson and the Top 10 Running Backs

2 of 6

Running back Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings had his best game of the season in Sunday's victory over the Arizona Cardinals, rumbling for 122 yards and scoring three times, and with a matchup upcoming with a Chicago Bears team that's allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs, Peterson tops the Week 6 fantasy options at his position.

1. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings (at CHI)

2. Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders (vs. CLE)

3. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles (at WAS)

4. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens (vs. HOU)

5. Arian Foster, Houston Texans (at BAL)

3 of 6

Not even New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis could slow down the torrid pace of wide receiver Wes Welker, who reeled in five catches for 124 yards in the New England Patriots victory in Week 5, and there's little reason to believe that Welker won't be in for another big day when the Patriots host the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday.

1. Wes Welker, New England Patriots (vs. DAL)

2. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions (vs. SF)

3. Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers (vs. STL)

4. Jason Witten and the Top 10 Tight Ends

4 of 6

The Dallas Cowboys will need big games from all their offensive stars if they're going to knock off the New England Patriots at Foxboro this week, so tight end Jason Witten should see a ton of targets in a game that will likely feature plenty of offense, making Witten the top fantasy player among tight ends in Week 6.

1. Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys (at NE)

2. Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints (at TB)

3. Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots (vs. DAL)

4. Owen Daniels, Houston Texans (at BAL)

5. Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers (vs. STL)

5. Sebastian Janikowski and the Top 10 Kickers

Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski set an NFL record by kicking three field goals of 50-plus yards in a win over the Houston Texans in Week 5, so in honor of the big day by the big man with the big leg, Janikowski is the top fantasy option at his position for this week when the Raiders play host to the Cleveland Browns.

1. Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland Raiders (vs. CLE)

2. Steve Gostkowski, New England Patriots (vs. DAL)

3. Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers (vs. STL)

The Pittsburgh Steelers defense looked much more like the dominant unit we expected them to be entering the season in manhandling the Tennessee Titans last week, and with a favorable upcoming matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars and rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert, the Steelers are the top fantasy football team defense option for Week 6.

1. Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. JAX)

2. Baltimore Ravens (vs. HOU)

3. New York Jets (vs. MIA)

4. Green Bay Packers (vs. STL)
