Steve Breaston: Why Fantasy Owners Need to Add Chiefs WR off Waiver Wire
Kansas City’s Steve Breaston didn’t give fantasy football owners much reason to get excited about him in the first four weeks of the 2011 NFL season.
But after a two-touchdown game Sunday against the Colts in Indianapolis, maybe owners should be rethinking their position.
Signed as an unrestricted free agent this offseason, Breaston is a big-play receiver who seems to be settling in as a key member of the Chiefs’ offense.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
His history in Arizona was that he was at his best working out of the slot, but an injury to Kansas City receiver Jonathan Baldwin this season forced a change of plans for the Chiefs, and Breaston is working on the outside now.
It was a bit of an adjustment, but one that he’s making look more smooth all the time.
Quarterback Matt Cassel found him four times Sunday, including TD strikes of 16 and 11 yards, the 11-yarder being the one that finalized the Chiefs’ win with just over five minutes to play.
There is probably a limited window of high return for Breaston, who will become more of a third option behind Dwayne Bowe, who had seven catches of his own Sunday for two scores, and Baldwin when he’s finally healthy to play.
Until Baldwin’s return, however, Cassel seems comfortable throwing in Breaston’s direction, and the former 1,000-yard receiver is making the most of it.
Breaston has 11 catches for 196 yards (17.8 yards per catch) in the last three games, including grabs of 42 and 43 yards after having started the season with just three catches worth 33 yards in his first two games.
