WWE Rumors: The Rock Asked Vince McMahon to Return to WWE?

The title may seem a little confusing, so let me clarify real quick.

According to this report, The Rock recently asked Vince McMahon for the Survivor Series Elimination tag team match next month. He also asked to be on the same side as John Cena.

In other words, Rock wanted a little bit of a warm up match, before jumping into one of the biggest matches of all time at Wrestle Mania 28 against John Cena. Think about it!

Rock has not had a match since Wrestle Mania XX. That was on March 14th, 2004 in New York City at Madison Square Garden. Eight years! As great as he is, you can't go eight years without doing something and magically still be perfect at it. Rock knew this. WWE knew this.

Back on topic, where is Survivor Series next month? Yep, the exact same place as Rock's final match in 2004! It makes too much sense, so Rock seized the chance to talk to Vince, and all sides agreed to sign the match.

The same report goes on to note that The Rock, Cena, Triple H and Vince McMahon are working closing on this storyline and no definite plans are in place. The most interesting aspect is that a Royal Rumble appearance by The Rock is also teased. Wow! Rock sure wants to wear off that ring rust, huh? You might as well throw him in the Elimination Chamber, while we are at it...

Call me crazy, but I am not sure I want Rocky appearing too much before Wrestle Mania 28. I am sure most will jump on the "fantasy booking" bandwagon and throw him in the Rumble, win it, and challenge Cena for the WWE title, but these are all rumors at this point.

Nothing is set in stone.

In conclusion, I find it satisfying that The Rock knows he can't just walk in and main event Wrestle Mania after eight years of no ring action. I am also very happy to see Rocky is taking his comeback very seriously and isn't going to give some half hearted effort, collect his paycheck and go home, like many other legends do.

Kudos to The Rock! Kudos to WWE! We will all be watching come Survivor Series...
