NY Yankees: Why Getting Advice from LeBron James Adds Insult to Injury

After the New York Yankees lost to the Detroit Tigers last night, LeBron James offered some advice on losing.

That's not a good thing.

The much-maligned James had an inspirational tweet for his favorite baseball team:

"U win some, u lose some, but u live, u live to fight another day. #yankees"

Now, I'm not going to address James' refusal to spell 'you' correctly (after all, it is a tweet), his use of three commas in a tweet (general rule: if you have more than two commas in a tweet, you should probably take the time to spell words correctly) or his reference to a mid-90s movie.

I'm going to address the fact that the Yankees don't care how James inspires himself. They simply want to win.

If you are one of the most successful franchises in the history of sports, would you want advice from someone who has yet to win a title? Not to mention, he is one of the most talented players in the history of his sport and is still ringless.

Of course not. You would want him to leave you alone.

Obviously, James knows what it takes to lose, which could make his advice useful. However, he has never rebounded from a loss, made himself better and claimed a championship. The Yankees aren't about regular season success. They want to win championships. And a lot of them.

So, when a perennial loser tells a perennial winner to just move on after a loss, that hurts. Because, if the Yankees start taking James' philosophy to heart, they might fall into a pretty ugly pattern of losing.

When it comes down to it, the Yankees don't want to have any association with losers (except, you know, Alex Rodriguez). So, when James quotes his favorite movie to inspire his favorite baseball team, they don't want that.

With that said, maybe the Yankees need James' inspiration. Considering the pinstripes have only won one World Series in the last ten years, maybe they are on a pretty similar level to James. In fact, while this could hurt some Yankee fans, James identifying with this team symbolizes what the Yanks have become.

The Yanks should just accept the fact that they have become regular season wonders. That way, they can just go about their business, with a little inspiration from Mr. Jones.

Heck, why not? It works for LeBron James.
