Fantasy Football Week 5 Rankings: Matt Ryan and the 3 Riskiest QBs

Chris TrapassoOct 7, 2011

A few usually reliable fantasy quarterbacks have been anything but through four games of the 2011 NFL season.

Who are these signal-callers and will their sub-par fantasy play continue in Week 5?

Let's take a look.

Ryan has been just below the elite level of fantasy quarterbacks for a few years now and has seen this season get off to a roller-coaster start.

He has thrown for a respectable amount of yards, but has four interceptions and has only tossed six touchdowns.

This week, Ryan faces a Packers secondary that has been exploited by the majority of the quarterbacks it has gone up against—and he gets them in the Georgia Dome.

However, Green Bay can create turnovers in their defensive backfield. What's more, Ryan will most likely be forced to throw a lot, what with Rodgers expected to lead the Packers on frequent scoring drives.

This could be a 300-yard-plus, three-TD afternoon for Ryan, but it could just as easily be a 250-yard, one-TD and two-INT performance.

Matthew Hasselbeck

Hasselbeck has been a godsend for Tennessee at the start of the year, revitalizing the offense and bringing more explosiveness to the passing game.

Chris Johnson broke out for his first 100-yard rushing game of the year, but it's unknown if they'll switch their offensive onus to the ground game.

Hasselbeck faces the Steelers top-ranked pass defense in the Steel City, who are allowing a paltry 158 yards through the air in each game.

Will he continue his resurgence or will he experience his first rough outing against a hungry Pittsburgh defense?

Definitely risky.

Matt Schaub

I'm not saying Schaub will have any trouble throwing against a Raiders pass defense that's allowing 275 yards through the air every game. I'm saying it comes down to how much the Texans will pass the ball at home, what with Arian Foster back to what seems to be 100 percent.

We've seen games in which Schaub relies on his talented runner and doesn't throw the ball more than 25 times.

It's just impossible to know how they will attack Oakland.

Oh, and Andre Johnson's absence probably won't help, either.
