Week 5 Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Mike Tolbert and 3 Iffy RBs to Start

Michael DixonOct 7, 2011

If you take a look at the guys below, you're not going to see a lot of sexy names. But when you have to deal with bye weeks and injuries, sexy names aren't always on the table.

These guys are all being started in fewer than half of ESPN leagues. If they are on your team, then put them in the lineup.

Odds are good that you don't have a lot of depth at RB. If that's the case, you are going to have to take some gambles. These are guys completely worthy of taking a chance on.

Shonn Greene

Greene is off to an awful start this year. Quite frankly, if he can't do it against the Patriots, it might be time to look in another direction.

Fortunately, this is not a bad matchup for Greene. If the Jets have learned one thing from their last two games, it's that they need to run the ball.

Mark Sanchez is clearly not a quarterback that will carry an offense, not right now anyway. Getting Greene into the offense is a must, otherwise the Jets are going to be 2-3 and in a world of hurt in a deep AFC and AFC East.

Can Tolbert be a touchdown vulture again? Given how many yards the Broncos' defense allows, at least one return trip to the end zone is likely.

The risk with Tolbert is that he's not going to get a lot of yards. So, if you do play him and he doesn't get into the end zone, you risk a dismal day.

But I like Tolbert's chances at getting into the end zone. Unless you have a lot of RB depth, Tolbert is a good gamble.

Joseph Addai

Ironically enough, the Kansas City defense's best day as it relates to keeping the opposing RB from earning fantasy points came against Adrian Peterson. Remember that when you try to predict anything.

The Colts very clearly need to run the ball better to win. While Addai does split time, he's still a solid option.

Consider that and also consider that the Colts are somewhat likely to be playing ahead for the first time this year.

Addai's best days are behind him, but he's not a bad play when there are injuries and bye weeks to contend with.
