Week 5 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: 6 to Start and 6 to Sit for Week 5 Games
Fantasy football comes down to sixes.
How many times your quarterback, receiver or running back gets into the end zone for six points.
How many times your defense stops the other team from scoring six points.
How many times your key players have performances that give you at least six points.
How many costly mistakes a player makes that cost you six points.
Al Pacino may have said football is a "game of inches," but really it's a game of sixes.
With that being said here are six players to start and six players to sit for this upcoming week.
START: Titans Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck
1 of 12Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is doing things that Vince Young could never do.
Hasselbeck is throwing more touchdowns than interceptions, becoming a great team leader, reading blitzes and coverages effectively, and winning 75 percent of his starts.
Hasselbeck is averaging around 280 passing yards a game, two touchdowns a game and is one of the league's best fourth quarter quarterbacks.
START: Giants Running Back Ahmad Bradshaw
2 of 12Bradshaw is averaging over 4 yards a carry this season and has averaged around 73 yards a game when he gets over 15 carries.
Bradshaw should get a ton of carries this week as the Seahawks are third most ran on team in the entire league.
Expect Bradshaw to get at least 20 carries and to catch at least five balls out of the backfield.
START: New Orleans Running Back Mark Ingram
3 of 12The Panthers lost their two best linebackers in Jon Beason and Thomas Davis and are starting two rookie defensive tackles.
Because of this, the Panthers have struggled against power running backs all season long. Last week the Panthers gave up 205 yards to Bears running back Matt Forte, and Forte got less then 10 carries in the Bears game against the Packers.
Teams are noticing the Panthers weak run defense and changing their game plans to take advantage of this weakness.
Look for Ingram to get over 20 carries and to rush for at least 100 yards.
START: Buffalo Running Back Fred Jackson
4 of 12Another team that has been awful against the run has been the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles are giving up around six yards a carry up the middle (the most in the league) and are getting absolutely torched by the run in the red zone.
Look for Buffalo to give Jackson at least 25 carries to try to keep the ball away from Michael Vick and the Eagles explosive offense.
If Jackson can average four yards a carry against the Eagles, he will be worth starting against the Eagles.
START: New England Wide Receiver Wes Welker
5 of 12One of two things are going to happen when Tom Brady drops back to throw the ball: He is going to throw the ball to Wes Welker or if Welker is not open Brady will throw to one of his very talented tight ends.
So basically on two out of every three plays (how often the Patriots throw the ball) Welker has about a 50 percent chance of getting the ball.
Considering how often Welker gets open, he probably has a 75 percent chance of getting the ball on passing plays.
Even though the Jets only give up about 180 passing yards a game (second in the NFL) the Patriots should be able to pass for at least 300 yards, as they have one of the league's best passing game and will be able to control the ball against the Jets.
START: San Diego Quarterback Philip Rivers
6 of 12The Chargers will hit their stride since it's October, and the Broncos have one of the worst passing defenses in the entire league.
The Broncos gave up 408 passing yards to Aaron Rodgers and a Packers offense that did not even look like it was taking the Broncos seriously.
The Broncos are the Chargers biggest rival, and the Chargers will be eager to prove that they are one of the best teams in the AFC.
Look for Rivers to pass for over 400 yards and four touchdowns against the Broncos terrible pass defense.
SIT: Pittsburgh Running Back Rashard Mendenhall
7 of 12Mendenhall has averaged only three yards a carry this season and is only averaging around 43 yards a game.
Mendenhall also has a hamstring injury that will limit has carries and his backup Isaac Redman is averaging around 5 yards a carry.
Mendenhall looks like he will probably have a 10-carry 25-yard type of game and looks like he will not even be the best running back option for the Steelers this week.
SIT: Jacksonville Running Back Maurice Jones-Drew
8 of 12MJD has always found a way to put up good numbers regardless of how bad the Jaguars are.
But I think with Blaine Gabbert at quarterback (even with how good he was last week), the Jaguars are almost too one-dimensional for Jones-Drew to have a big game against the Bengals.
The Bengals also proved last week against the Bills that they not only have a good defense, but one of the league's better defenses.
Look for the Bengals to commit to stopping the run and to control the ball on offense.
SIT: Houston Quarterback Matt Schaub
9 of 12Texans quarterback Matt Schaub is usually one of the best fantasy quarterbacks in the NFL.
But Schaub has never really had to play a big game with a hurt Andre Johnson or with Andre Johnson out of the game.
Without Johnson, the Texans receivers who are usually single covered will see more double teams and zone schemes.
This means that Schaub will have trouble finding open receivers against the Raiders defense.
I also think the Raiders will blitz Schaub about 80 percent of the time so he will have limited time to find receivers who cannot get open.
With Johnson out of the game, Matt Schaub will really struggle against the Raiders defense.
SIT: Carolina Quarterback Cam Newton
10 of 12Being a one-dimensional offense will finally catch up to the Panthers offense and quarterback Cam Newton.
The Panthers running game has been absolutely awful throughout the 2011 season, and the Panthers will have to abandon the run to stay in the game against the Saints
This will enable the Saints to confuse Cam Newton with different coverages and blitz him on just about every down.
I think Newton turns the ball over at least two times and throws for under 250 yards against the Saints defense.
SIT: Arizona Wide Receiver Larry Fitzgerald
11 of 12The Cardinals only offense this season has been throwing the "jump ball" to Larry Fitzgerald late in the game.
I think the Vikings double- or triple-team Fitzgerald on just about every play and force the Cardinals second and third receivers to make plays.
With an entire defense scheming against him, it is tough seeing Fitzgerald having a huge game against the Vikings defense.
SIT: Chicago Quarterback Jay Cutler
12 of 12Even though he basically took the game off last Sunday against the Panthers, Jay Cutler and the Bears are going to have to throw the ball Monday night to keep up with the Detroit Lions explosive offense.
The problem with this is that the Lions probably have the best front four in the entire league and Chicago might have the worst offensive line.
I think Detroit's front four gets pressure on just about every passing play and forces Cutler into at least three interceptions.
