Ozzie Guillen Wants Zambrano in Miami? Good Luck
You want Carlos Zambrano? Great. Take him. In a recent article for MLB.com, Joe Frisaro reported that Ozzie Guillen has contacted Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano about taking his talents to south beach.
Guillen and Zambrano are longtime friends, but can he control Zambrano’s meltdowns? Can anyone? Zambrano’s anger issues have made his recent years with the Cubs tumultuous at best.
This season, it appears that walking out during a game and claiming you’re retiring was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Last season it was the dugout shouting match with Derrek Lee which landed him a suspension and mandatory anger management counseling.

In 2009, Zambrano was suspended after making contact with an umpire, though most remember the incident for Zambrano taking a bat to the water cooler on his way out.
After every incident he apologizes, first to the fans and then to his teammates. He promises to control his anger and reiterates that he wishes to be a Cub for life. Sure. Everyone around here has had enough of the ol’ Carlos Zambrano empty promises.
Everyone except Ozzie Guillen.
The problem is that Zambrano has never really had to control himself or his emotions. His entire career has been a slap on the wrist here, an apology there and everything is forgiven. His talent was too important for any manager to sit him.
His contract was too large for the GM to move him, too.
In the meantime, the fans are left having to put up with his selfish, me-first team-last attitude. Now, Guillen wants a shot at being the Zambrano whisperer. Good luck. The only person who can keep Zambrano under control is Zambrano, and he’s never had or wanted to do it.
