WWE Raw Results: Top 10 Moments from Last Night

Justin WatryOct 4, 2011

Coming off this past Sunday's Heck on a Deck PPV, WWE needed to create something special. Guess what? There is yet another PPV coming up in three weeks called Vengeance.

While it was mostly ignored, WWE delivered a "hook" that will hopefully carry the company into the next few weeks, leading into a great show come October 23rd in Texas.

With that being said, here are the top moments from Raw last night, and stay tuned until the end where I will make a minor announcement about a much larger announcement down the road...

10. Orton vs. Drew Starts Raw

1 of 10

I always harp on this, but wrestling shows NEED to change up their cards once in a while. That is why I don't mind it when a World title match is in the middle of the show sometimes. Or even, once in a blue moon, starts the show.

Just like PPV cards, their TV shows need to feel fresh every couple weeks or even months at the latest. Last night, WWE started out with a match. Shocking, I know?

Not only that, but it seemed like a surefire squash match with Drew already waiting for his opponent, Randy Orton. Both of these guys can "bring it," and they delivered a great match.

Yes, it was pretty short, but Orton is Orton, and Drew is Drew. It shouldn't last too long.

9. Divas Division Is Picking Up

2 of 10

Since Kelly Kelly won the Diva's title in June, the women of the WWE have been on a roll. She has greatly improved in the ring, is getting more and more media attention and will go down as this generation's "Trish Stratus," whether anyone wants to admit it or not.

You add Nattie. You add Beth Phoenix (current champion). You add Eve as a nice role player, and you have a nice core four.

Of course, Kelly Kelly lost her Diva's title at Heck on a Deck and was not going to take that lightly. As soon as she got in the ring with Beth and Nattie, she snapped!

Kelly Kelly attacked the Sisters of Destruction and did not give a darn what happened to the scheduled tag team match. Good passion and fire! I enjoyed it.

8. Santino Returned!

3 of 10

Watch that video! That was an epic moment on Raw this past year folks.

Anytime Santino is on WWE TV, you know you are going to be entertained. Last night, he beat Jinder in less than a minute, and it was like a breath of fresh air.

There hasn't been too much comedy on Raw or Smackdown lately, but Santino is back on TV. Sorry Zack Ryder—Santino is healthy again, which means you get bumped off the show.

7. Lawler Can Still Talk

4 of 10

The man still has it. From his little push late last year, to his run with The Miz, to last night.

On the mic, Lawler can still cut promos with the best of the roster. If anyone was to speak up for WWE versus Triple H last night, it was Lawler that made the most sense.

He has been on Raw nearly ever week for almost 20 years and is probably one of the few Superstars the fans "trust" to know about wrestling's history and their problems in the back (kayfabe).

Great job, Mr. Lawler!

6. Big Show Is Back on Friday

5 of 10

This is something WWE needs to do a lot more often. Blend Raw into Smackdown. Do not totally kill the brand extension, but promote what will happen on each show.

It seems like common sense to me. This week, WWE did that perfectly. Big Show is returning to seek revenge on Mark Henry, and WWE built it up like it was a big deal.

Pretty simple, yet effective hype for Smackdown this Friday. Big Show is coming back and wants to destroy Mark Henry. Kudos to WWE!

5. Vince McMahon Is Teased to Be Coming Back

6 of 10

I do not know about any of you, but it seems logical even more after last night.

Vince McMahon is pulling some strings here. Vince is not going away quietly. Triple H may be running the show now, but someone is behind the scenes trying to make The Game look like a fool who can't be a proper COO.

Who would do such a thing, you ask? Well, Johnny Ace sure seems to be following somebody's orders, and they aren't Triple H's.

As most are expecting, Vince is being teased left and right to be returning, and with the ending to Raw last night, it seems to be closer than some may think.

4. 12-Man Tag Team Match

7 of 10

I am not much of a "star ratings" guy, but I have seen this match be given anywhere from three stars to four-and-a-half stars. While I would not go that high, this match was highly enjoyable.

It took up nearly 30 minutes, and time just flew by. This was just a wonderful display for a number of reason. Vickie was involved. Mason Ryan got some nice time to shine. Dolph and Cody had great facial reactions throughout the match.

On top of all of that, Sheamus was highlighted once again. Great move! I said this several weeks ago—team with Cena is a great way to get a new babyface over with the crowd.

Awesome work by everyone out there and a hot ending to put the cherry on top!

3. Vickie Has a New Stable?

8 of 10

If I had a Fave Five like Booker T, Vickie would officially be included.

Just listen to the crowd when Swagger spoke, or Cody, or anyone else. Then listen when Vickie starts to speak.

While that may seem like a bad thing, that is a good thing (smiles)! Vickie's new job is seemingly to get over a couple young heels, so hopefully by the end of the run, those young heels will get the same amount of heat Vickie currently has.

I have no idea where this little group of "disgruntled employees" will go with Vickie (and David Otunga) leading the charge, but only interesting times are ahead...

2. WWE Superstars Stage a Walk out

9 of 10

No confidence. Sorry Triple H, but the WWE roster just showed how they feel about your run as COO. Remember the phrase, actions speak louder than words?

This was a great segment to end Raw. Yes, it was unbelievable and over the top, but isn't that what this business is all about?

I loved Jim Ross being one of the last to walk out. Such a small touch, but it went a long way. I understand WWE not wanting their huge top stars out there, because you don't want them to get a negative reaction, so that made sense.

Triple H is now left without a roster, with a Smackdown show this week, Raw next week, many more shows after that and a PPV named Vengeance in less than three weeks.

Tons of questions...all to make you tune in and find out what happens next!

1. Mark Henry vs. John Morrison

10 of 10

This was beautiful. Everything I have been about the past few months all came together last night on Raw when Mark Henry destroyed John Morrison in less than two minutes.

Maybe Morrison does belong in the mid card, like I said.

Remember when I offered Morrison to go down to FCW for awhile? I was crazy, right? He is such a young athlete who can do things no other man can!!! Yeah, how is that working out now?

It's not like I predicted the demise of Morrison and Melina long before it started to rear its' ugly head. Oh wait, I did that months ago! Sorry, but just like Mark Henry's run, I tried to warn you...Morrison just may be on the way out, and it is of no surprise to me.

Henry's last week or so: clean win over Khali, beats Orton at Heck on a Deck and squashes Morrison like a bug on Raw!

Morrison's last week or so: Del Rio beats him in a minute, he loses to Cody Rhodes even though he was in a suit and NOT ready to compete, then Henry beats him in two minutes while laughing off his finisher!

All the Morrison fans on Twitter/Facebook fantasy booking his "big comeback" and how his losses were because he was "still selling his neck" and calling ME out may want to start checking out WWE.com pretty soon and see if Jo-Mo still has a profile page...

Now, it is is time for my statement to be made, which will mean much more in a couple weeks. On 11-1-11, I will be making a major announcement that will change the way you read my work forever!
