NFL Picks Week 5: New York Giants and the 2 Biggest Locks of the Week
Few things are ever certain in the NFL, but entering Week 5 there are three teams that are almost assured of wins. The New York Giants, San Diego Chargers and Green Bay Packers are virtual locks to come away from Week 5 with victories.
The Giants welcome the hapless Seattle Seahawks to MetLife Stadium on Sunday and look to actually be getting themselves together. New York had a nice 31-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4, scoring 21 fourth-quarter points to secure a huge comeback. The win moved the Giants to 3-1 and had to have instilled confidence that the G-Men can actually win games despite being so banged up.

Meanwhile the Seahawks showed some spunk in their 30-28 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4. Seattle trailed 27-7 early in the second half, but mounted a furious comeback that fell short along with Steven Hauschka's 61-yard field goal attempt with eight seconds left.
Still, the Seahawks boast the NFL's worst offense, averaging just 254 yards per game, and the Giants won't allow them to gain 372 yards the way the Cardinals did. New York should come away with an easy win in this one.
The San Diego Chargers have played close in all three of their wins this season, including a 26-16 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Everyone keeps waiting for Philip Rivers and company to break out, and this weekend could be the time, as San Diego faces a Denver Broncos team that will be limping into the game after being pasted by the Green Bay Packers 49-23 in Week 4.
The Chargers have begun to look better offensively after a disjointed start. They are averaging 415.8 yards per game, and have started to get excellent contributions from second-year running back Ryan Mathews. Through this season's first four games Mathews has 542 total yards and three touchdowns. Adding him to a list of weapons that includes Vincent Jackson, Antonio Gates (if he gets healthy), Mike Tolbert and Malcom Floyd, makes the Chargers that much more dangerous.
The Broncos have the league's 24th-ranked offense (310.8 yards per game) and the 23rd-ranked defense (377.8 yards per game), and a minus-six turnover margin. The Chargers should roll to 4-1 on Sunday, while Denver will fall to 1-4.
The Green Bay Packers are currently the best team in the NFL, and don't let anyone tell you differently. After smacking the Broncos 49-23 in Week 4, Aaron Rodgers and his offense look even better than they did during last year's Super Bowl run. The 4-0 Packers face the 2-2 Atlanta Falcons in what should be a tough Sunday night road test.
I say "should be," because right now you just shouldn't be against Green Bay. Rodgers has the team's offense rolling and they look as good on that side of the ball as any team in recent memory. The Packers just can't be stopped right now, and a Falcons team that gave up 30 points to the Bears in Week 1 and 28 to the Seahawks this past Sunday should get lit up by Green Bay on Sunday night.
