Hank Williams Jr. a Little Too Rowdy for ESPN: MNF Intro Pulled over Comments
Yes, a country boy can survive, but he’d better not speak freely while doing so.
It seems Hank Williams Jr. has landed himself in some hot water with the big shots at ESPN over his colorful commentary on “Fox and Friends” regarding President Obama.
Williams said of Obama’s golf outing with Speaker of the House John Boehner, “That would be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu.”

Unfortunately, the brainiacs at ESPN stopped listening after hearing the “H” word and immediately ordered that Williams’ iconic Monday Night Football musical intro be pulled.
Of course I understand that certain emotions stir when anyone attaches Adolf Hitler’s name to any type of analogy. But I believe that the context of Williams’ words was lost among the shrieks of discontent that poured out of the “You can’t say that out loud” bleeding hearts.
He was simply trying to say that Obama and Boehner are on complete and total opposite ends of the political spectrum and that they will NEVER see eye to eye on any issue. Period.
I think we’re forgetting one small detail here. This is Hank Williams Jr. we’re talking about! This is the “rowdy” man who sings about rolling his own smoke and getting high on the town just because it’s a family tradition!
Did ESPN think that a man who wants to spit Beechnut into his enemy’s eyes will always be on his best behavior and stay only on the path of all that is politically correct?
C’MON MAN!!
Can we please leave the politics to the networks that thrive on them?
When I tune into ESPN for MNF, I am obviously not concerned about what happens on “Fox and Friends.” I want to see an epic battle on the gridiron. I want to watch the yellow flags fly during a temper-fueled brawl. I want to hear Ron Jaworski drop an S-bomb live on the air.
And I want to hear Hank Williams Jr. ask me if I’m ready for it all.
If ESPN is so concerned about doing the right thing politically, then shame on them for punishing someone for exercising a constitutional right.
