NBA 2K12 Ratings: Dallas Mavericks and 3 Teams Perfectly Rated
Coming up with the ratings for every team in the NBA is not an easy thing to do. Some older players get slower and less athletic while young guys begin to blossom.
Then there is the issue with rookies. Who the heck knows how a player that can’t legally drink will fare in front of 25,000 people for the first year of his career.
The 2K crew does a great job factoring in all of the aspects that change every season. Here are three teams they nailed:
(For the full list, click here)
No. 1 Miami Heat (1st Defense, 3rd Offense)
The Heat posses three of the top 20 players in the league and sport enough defense to justify the No. 1 overall ranking.
The team defense they displayed in the playoffs was second to none (excluding Games 3-6 of the NBA Finals) and there is no reason to think that would change this year after being together for a full season. Remember how bad they made Derrick Rose look in the Eastern Conference finals?
The Heat are going to be the favorites to win it all in real life and in 2K12.
No. 5 Dallas Mavericks (9th Defense, 1st Offense)
Yeah, I know they won the championship last year, but it was because they were the best team. The Mavs didn’t exactly have the most skill; they had the best combination of chemistry, coaching and toughness. That doesn’t always translate in video games.
The Mavericks are going to be older when the new season starts and they may be without their best defensive player Tyson Chandler, who is set to cash in big in free agency.
Dallas will still have the high-powered offense that got them so far to begin with, so No. 5 sounds like the perfect place to stick them.
No. 10 Denver Nuggets (20th Defense, 2nd Offense)
The Nuggets are one of the most exciting teams to watch in the league. They led the league in points per game and are returning all of the main pieces when the new season begins.
Point guard Ty Lawson is a budding star and the cohesiveness of the team should be much better after a full offseason with the three New York Knicks (Raymond Felton has again been traded) that came over in the Carmelo trade.
The defense is still a big work-in-progress and should be ranked as such. Yet with the addition of rookie Kenneth Faried, they deserve to be ranked higher than a handful of teams.
Overall, the Nuggets are going to be a fun team to watch that will struggle to get stops when it matters in the playoffs. Sounds like the 10th best team to me.
