WWE Hell in a Cell 2011: PPV Results Set Up an Epic Survivor Series Showdown

Donald WoodOct 3, 2011

The WWE has been putting on solid PPVs lately, and Hell in a Cell was one of the best shows put on in the last few years.

While the company has shown a new dedication to the quality of the product in the ring and in the storyline, the abundance of mediocre talent has hampered the efforts to put out an amazing product.

Hell in a Cell was a great example of the WWE optimizing their talent and utilizing it in ways to make the next show desirable to watch, but it looks like the feat won’t be as hard as more and more veteran stars come back to the starting rotation.

The buildup to WrestleMania starts now and the return of stars is a perfect accessory for an epic stretch run to the WWE’s Super Bowl.

Wrestlezone is reporting about an epic matchup for this year’s Survivor Series:

"

WZ has learned that The Rock and John Cena together on a team will be part of a massive main event WWE wants to promote for this year’s Survivor Series. As of now, the current plan is for a team that is anti-WWE to face a team that is defending WWE. The anti-WWE team is not fully known at this time but obviously will feature the “future endeavored” stars of The Miz, R-Truth and Kevin Nash. There is said to be a few other names talked about internally to align themselves on the anti-WWE team, even Vince McMahon has been rumored to be a participant in the match, but a full lineup is not yet known. On the other side of the ring, the WWE team is definitely going to feature The Rock, John Cena and Triple H. After speaking with sources, WWE wants to have another big name involved. As of now, the two names on the wish list are The Undertaker or Stone Cold Steve Austin.

"

That’s right folks, the WWE is planning an epic PPV for Survivor Series that will set up one of the greatest periods in wrestling, culminating with a WrestleMania to end all.

With possible returns of super stars like Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Undertaker, as well as the reformation of the nWo, we could be leaving the dark ages of the WWE and heading into a wrestling renaissance.

The hope throughout the company is that the return of all of these stars combined with the PPV success WWE has had since Money in the Bank will steer the company into the best matches and shows we have seen since the attitude era.
