WWE: Did We Witness the Rebirth of the IC Title at Hell in a Cell?
Considering WWE only had two weeks to build Sunday's Hell in a Cell PPV, I would have to admit I was pleasantly surprised after last night's show.
Instead of discussing Alberto Del Rio's second run as WWE Champion or Mark Henry's impressive defense of the World Title, I want to point out what I believe is the most important development coming out of HIAC: The rebirth of the Intercontinental Title.
Finally! After years of dragging this prestigious title through the mud, it looks as though the WWE has finally started to listen to the IWC, restore the IC title back to glory!

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
The Intercontinental Title, which was made famous by guys like Pedro Morales, Tito Santana, Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat, Mr. Perfect and the Ultimate Warrior, has become a joke over the past several years. Back in the day, this was the title that future stars had to capture before they could break out into super-stardom.
Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, HHH, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, just to name a few, are all guys who held the IC Title before becoming "The Guy" in WWE. Not to mention that some of the best matches in WWE history were fought over this championship:
Savage vs. Steamboat
Perfect vs. Hart
Hart vs. Bulldog
HBK vs. Razor Ramon
The Rock vs. HHH
Stone Cold vs. Owen Hart
The list can go on and on. I'm sure every hardcore fan has a favorite IC Title match, it just comes with the territory. Somewhere in the past decade or so the IC Title has simply become a joke. Two reigns by Santino Marella are literal evidence of this.
But last night something special happened. There is a reason this change was made. Sure you can argue that it was done for WWE Shop revenue but I believe it was done to send a message.
The REAL IC Title is back, and it's here to stay.
