NLDS Game 2: St. Louis Cardinals Make Cliff Lee and the Phillies Look Human
I'm a Yankee fan, so Cliff Lee is not exactly my best friend right now. The past two years, I have watched him be a dominant postseason pitcher and at the expense of my own team too many times. He's become a god-like figure in the playoffs to me, so you can imagine I had fun watching the St. Louis Cardinals smack him around during Game 2 of the NLDS.
It seemed like doomsday in St. Louis as the Cardinals were down 4-0 early against Cliff Lee and the Philadelphia Phillies. Normally, the past two seasons a four-run deficit would have been impossible to recover from against Lee and the Cardinals would be going home down 0-2 in the NLDS.

But that wasn't the case in Game 2.
The Cardinals were able to chip away at the Phillies advantage, scoring three runs off Lee in the fourth inning, tacking on another in the sixth to tie the score. The Cards would finally get Lee out of the game with a busy seventh inning, an Albert Pujols RBI single was the finishing touch.
Quite the contrast from what we have seen in the past from Cliff, but that's baseball. A team like the Cardinals can seem completely dead at the hands of a great team, but still come back and win a game.
Now the Cardinals will take home-field advantage back with them to St. Louis with the improbable Game 2 victory. It's another step in what's been nothing short of a miraculous season and the Cardinals seem to have a little magic in them.
Like I said before, I wear pinstripes first, but I know how important a little magic can be in the playoffs and I think that is what Game 2 was. Postseason magic can make an underdog into a World Series Champion.
