WWE Hell in a Cell 2011: Why Alberto Del Rio as Champ Could Be Great for the WWE

Rikki SollisOct 2, 2011

I know that the title of this article may have come as a surprise to a few of you, but if Alberto Del Rio wins the title at tonight's Hell in a Cell event then it could signal great things for the WWE.

Let's start with how this win would happen. I think we're all aware that if Del Rio is winning, then there's either going to be some form of outside interference or foul play afoot.

We haven't seen Awesome Truth or Kevin Nash for a few weeks now, and there have been whispers amongst the IWC that they will be making their return sooner rather than later, so why not now?

Picture this; the main event triple threat match has been going for about 15 minutes or so when Awesome Truth and Kevin Nash jump out of the crowd, knocking down the referees situated on the outside. After taking the keys from one of the referees they enter the cage and beat down Cena and Punk for a few minutes or so.

This would draw amazing heat from the crowd because Cena is the hero of the younger members of the WWE Universe and CM Punk is the "anti-hero" of the older members of the WWE Universe.

Following the beat down, Del Rio covers Cena for the 1-2-3 (after of course, Miz and Truth force the referee into doing so). As Del Rio's music plays, John Laurinaitis comes down to ringside and the last image of the PPV is Laurinaitis and Nash holding Del Rio's arms aloft.

On Raw the following night, it becomes immediately apparent that Del Rio has aligned himself with Laurinaitis, having done so prior to the PPV, swayed by the fact that he would be helped to win the title.

Laurinaitis's next move is to recruit WHC Mark Henry, fresh off his victory over Randy Orton at HIAC. Henry has made it clear over the last couple of weeks that he isn't happy with the WWE hierarchy because they never believed that he could actually win the WHC, therefore aligning himself with Laurinaitis and the other Superstars who are unhappy with Triple H's regime.

As we move towards Survivor Series, Laurinaitis announces that his team of WWE Champ Alberto Del Rio, WHC Mark Henry and the newly reinstated Awesome Truth and Kevin Nash will take on a team of Triple H's choosing and if Laurinaitis' team wins, then Triple H has to resign as COO.

Triple H's team would consist of himself, Cena, Orton, The Rock and begrudgingly, Punk.

Leading up to Survivor Series, Awesome Truth would pick up the Tag Team Titles so Laurinaitis could proclaim that he has a team of champions as the majority of the titles in the WWE would be within his stable.

Survivor Series would become one of the most anticipated PPVs of the year, making the fans happy because they are going to witness a great main event, and would keep Vince happy because it would trigger a massive amount of buys.

As you can see, a Del Rio win at HIAC could provide the set up for great things in the WWE and would really give Survivor Series a chance to really stake it's claim as one of the "Big 4."

I'd like to hear your opinions on my theory. Tell me if you think I have it completely wrong, and share your ideas on how the near future of the WWE will be shaping up.
