WWE Hell in a Cell Results: Mark Henry Beats Randy Orton and What It Means
The apex predator and the current WWE World Champion put on one hell (no pun intended) of a show, but in the end, it was the Master of Pain Mark Henry who remained the champion everyone loves to hate.
For the WWE, it means many things to many people, but most importantly to the creative team on SmackDown and the WWE as well as the contenders who all want a shot at Henry's title, it means there will be more combatants that will step forward as possible rivals for the strap.
Here are some things to think about as Henry holds the title, and there is quite a bit of confusion around the WWE these days concerning wrestlers and their allegiances to the company and becoming a champion.
Orton and Henry Have a Feud That Could Keep Going for a While
1 of 8Judging by the torture both men inflicted on each other, this is a feud that could be a long-term feud like Christian and Orton.
both used the cell as their own playground, trying to get the upper hand many a time, with Orton showing why he is the most dangerous of contenders.
Henry's raw strength and brute force was ideal for a match where the confines act as punishment as well.
This rivalry could get uglier if that is even possible.
It Opens the Door for Sheamus to Be the Number One Contender
2 of 8Sheamus defeated Christian in Hell in a Cell. He is quickly proving he is the new face on the block and after winning gold before, he is primed for another run.
The fact he turned face and ran through Christian, who is a great competitor, proves the WWE is ready to give him a strong push.
Leaves the Possibility of Another Surprise Contender
3 of 8I know this has been talked about before, but it has to be brought up again.
Kane has been "injured" as of late and at the hands of Henry. A return is likely and a feud to ensue is almost assured.
But the kicker in this is a Kane with more evil. Maybe a masked Kane and a new commitment to the dark side with Paul Bearer at his side?
Looks like it could happen.
Somehow, It Will Give Christian Another Reason to Complain
4 of 8I am just throwing this in there, but you know Christian will want to stick his face or nose in this somehow.
Christian in my opinion is not that great a heel and when the tide starts to turn in the WWE and there becomes division amongst wrestlers and which of the line they stand, I hope Christian turns face again.
Christian is a great performer and looks the part, but since he has lost so soundly to Christian and battles with Randy Orton have been played out, I cannot see him getting another shot.
It Also Means That Mark Henry Will Be a Champion for a While
5 of 8This idea I like.
For some time now, the WWE has made a habit of taking a champion and although giving him the title back and forth time and again, they have the title for short reigns.
Could this be a change in that pattern?
I think the fans are tired of seeing a champion crowned every PPV or every month. It used to be that the champion was a fighting champion and that they opponents fought long and hard to unseat him.
Let's see if that theory comes into play.
Henry's Legacy as a True Heel Is Cemented
6 of 8We have not seen a champion go through opponents quite like Henry since the days of Big Show or Batista in terms of raw power or Goldberg in terms of "running" through them.
Henry is the heel everyone loves to hate and because of his actions, there is no in between, you either love him or hate him.
The WWE needs him to be the heel champion and hated man much in the same vane as Alberto Del Rio.
Lets Us Ask the Question,
7 of 8He said he would wait until Wrestlemania.
He was on a losing streak.
He needs a character overhaul and some personality.
Yes, Daniel Bryan is one of the best at what he does and there is a big divide of who likes him as a champion and who doesn't. Personally, I don't think he would feud with Mark Henry. But, we have seen Rey Mysterio feud with others twice his size, so it could happen.
Let's just hope it doesn't
It Could Lead to Someone from Raw Challenging Him
8 of 8If there is a case where the brands join, then there will be other contenders. Since John Cena and CM Punk cannot hold a title simultaneously, this could be the way for that to happen.
Cena vs. Henry is a good feud. I am not sure who else could feud with him and sell as well, maybe Jack Swagger? Maybe a Cody Rhodes, but I am sure heel vs. heel does not work.
There has to be a face change and something major to happen for this to even be approached.
