Week 4 Fantasy Football Projections: 5 Players Who Will Rack up Big Points

Richard LangfordOct 1, 2011

If you have any of the five following players, feel free to start amping up your trash talk. You will have a hard time losing with the monster numbers these guys are going to put.

All of these guys are excellent fantasy players, and they all have matchups this week that will lead to them putting up even bigger numbers than normal.

These guys will lead the point totals for their position, and they will lead your team to victory. Read on to see the five Week 4 fantasy football megastars.

Patriots' WR Wes Welker

1 of 5

The Raiders are 28th in the NFL in passing yards allowed. They are also particularly vulnerable where the Patriots like to attack—quick hitting routes to the inside of the field.

Welker had a mind boggling 20 targets against the Bills. He became an even bigger focal point of the offense once TE Aaron Hernandez went down to injury. He caught 16 of those passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns.

Hernandez will again be out for this game, and adding to the fact that Welker will explode is injuries to the Raiders' secondary.

Starting corner Chris Johnson is out for the game, and starting free safety and nickel corner Michael Huff is questionable.

Raiders' RB Darren McFadden

2 of 5

At first glance, the Patriots run defense is performing well.

They are ranked 10th against the run. However, look a little deeper and you will see they aren't performing as good as those numbers suggest.

The Patriots are 21st in yards allowed per rush at 4.3 yards per carry. According to Football Outsiders, they are last in the NFL by almost two yards per carry on rushes going to outside the left tackle.

McFadden is going to feast in this area. The Raiders are sixth in runs to this area. McFadden is deadly once he gets outside, and the Patriots have little speed to stop him once he gets there.

Vikings' RB Adrian Peterson

3 of 5

Adrian Peterson is having a sub-par fantasy year for Adrian Peterson. For any back not named Peterson, it has been solid. He is going to put up Peterson-like numbers this week.

For reasons unbeknownst to almost everyone, Peterson is getting a bizarre lack of carries. He has just 58 carries on the year.

Leslie Frazier must be coming to the realization that this is a recipe for a quick exit as Vikings coach. I expect him to buck this trend this week.

The Chiefs are not stopping the run this season. They are 28th in the NFL at 123 rushing yards allowed per contest.

Frazier will come to his senses in this game, as Peterson will feast on this weak defense.

Patriots' QB Tom Brady

4 of 5

See Wes Welker slide.

Welker is going to put up numbers that would be a good performance for Brady even if he doesn't throw to another receiver.

But he is going to find completions to other players as well. QBs have been picking apart the Raiders' pass D at will. And no one is better at picking than Brady.

Titans' RB Chris Johnson

5 of 5

Chris Johnson officially ended his holdout, but unofficially, I think he may still be on holdout. At least that is what his numbers would suggest.

This will be the week for Johnson to completely end his holdout.

Johnson will be facing the Browns and their 29th ranked rush defense. The Browns are allowing 128.7 yards per game on the ground—a number that looks even worse when you see they have played the Bengals, Colts and Dolphins.

Johnson is going to get plenty of touches in this one. They lost their leading receiver Kenny Britt last week. Johnson is not only going to get plenty of carries, but he should also be an active member of the passing game.
