2011 MLB Playoffs: Arizona Diamondbacks Will Pass the Milwaukee Brewers Tonight

Roberto PayneJun 7, 2018

The Arizona Diamondbacks are one game behind the Milwaukee Brewers for the second seed in the National League and home-field advantage.

The D-Backs would love nothing more than to surpass the Brewers tonight and secure home-field for the NLCS. It would mean so much to the fans, not just the team, to get home-field advantage, and would give them momentum going in to the first round.

Arizona plays the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight, while Milwaukee plays the Pittsburgh Pirates. Both teams play at home.

Both teams lost the first game of their series then came back to win the second game, so each team will be on their toes going into their respective games. The D-Backs squeaked by in dramatic fashion with a walk-off grand-slam homer from Ryan Roberts in the 10th inning. The Brewers relied on three Prince Fielder homers to win.

Milwaukee pitcher Zach Greinke is coming off a tough start against the Florida Marlins, when he was roughed up for four earned runs and two homers, and is looking to rebound against the Pirates.

Milwaukee needs a very good start from Greinke, but I don't think they'll get their wish. I predict Greinke to cruise through the first three or four innings before giving up a couple runs to the middle of the Pirates order.

Arizona sends out lefty Joe Saunders against Matt Kemp and the Dodgers, and need a performance similar to his last start against the San Francisco Giants.

Saunders has been on fire this month, and there's no better feeling than to end the season with a win in such a key game. I predict Saunders to pitch seven solid innings and get late run support to get the win.

With an Arizona win and a Milwaukee loss, the Diamondbacks will have secured home-field and get ready to play either the Brewers, Atlanta Braves or St. Louis Cardinals in the NLCS.
