WWE Hell in a Cell Predictions: Picking the Winner of Each Match

Richard OchsJun 7, 2018

WIth Hell in a Cell this Sunday night on pay-per-view, a lot of questions are surfacing.  Will it be predictable as Night of Champions?  Will it be as good as Money in the Bank or Summerslam?

Hell in a Cell doesn't quite have the proper build for a pay-per-view, due to the fact that Night of Champions was held about two weeks ago.  But good matches and memorable moments can distinguish whether or not this pay-per-view is Money in the Bank or Capitol Punishment.

Divas Championship: Kelly Kelly (c) vs Beth Phoenix

1 of 7

Kelly Kelly is the new face of the Divas Division and so far, she's been a thorn in the side of the Divas of Doom alliance of Beth Phoenix and Natalya.

WWE is very high on Kelly and it showed when they had Kelly go over Beth at consecutive pay-per-views at SummerSlam and at Night of Champions (in my and Beth's hometown of Buffalo).

Predicted Winner: New Divas Champion Beth Phoenix

If the WWE has any hope for the Divas of Doom alliance and "cleansing" of the Divas Division of all of the barbie-like divas, they won't have Kelly go over on Beth in three-straight-pay-per-views.

The last time someone went over someone else three times in a row was when Randy Orton went over Christian during their World Heavyweight Championship feud earlier this year and we all know how that turned out.

Beth should and will win her first Divas Championship at Hell in a Cell.

SPOILER MATCH!!!: Sin Cara (Mistico) vs Sin Cara (Hunico)

2 of 7

For weeks fans have been intrigued and confused about the ongoing war between the two Sin Caras.  This has been talked about so much that it's hard to believe that a month ago fans were calling for Mistico to be released and had both of their heads on sticks for all of the botches.

The confusion will somewhat be altered this Friday on SmackDown! when this match is announced, and the heel Sin Cara (Hunico) cuts a heel promo on the Mistico and reveals new attire to distinguish himself as heel Sin Cara.

Predicted Winner: Sin Cara (Hunico)

If WWE wants this feud to continue, Hunico needs to pull this one out.

This match will be very intriguing and feature a lot of spots and high-flying moves to keep the fans interested.  However, I believe that Hunico will get the win via grabbing the tights or holding the ropes

Possible Matches to Be Added

3 of 7

There are two possible matches that could be added to the card:

1.) Air Boom (Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne) vs Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger

Predicted Winner of this match: Air Boom

If the WWE is smart, they won't kill the momentum of Air Boom as a tag team by having them job to a brand new team that just got on the same page this Monday night. This could also build towards an eventual Ziggler vs Swagger feud.

2.) WWE United States Champion Dolph Ziggler (c) vs Zack Ryder

Predicted Winner of this match: New WWE United States Champion Zack Ryder

If this match were to happen (fingers crossed), I see Ryder picking up his first major singles title in the WWE much to the delight of his Broskis across the world.

I see Swagger trying to interfere again in this match, but having it backfire, thus starting up a feud between Ziggler and Swagger.

Grudge Match: Christian vs Sheamus

4 of 7

This match is very interesting, as Christian has been on somewhat of a downward slope since his feud with Randy Orton.  Sheamus, on the other hand, has on fire since turning babyface, picking up numerous wins over guys like Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, etc.

Sheamus has interacted with Christian on pay-per-view before, hitting him with the Brogue Kick at Night of Champions.  This match is definitely a toss-up, especially since this feud is just beginning.

Predicted Winner: Christian

This match can go a bunch of different ways: Christian provoking Sheamus's angry side to get a cheap DQ win, Christian winning by cheating, Sheamus winning clean, among other things.

However, I'm going to throw in a long-shot chance that could lead to intriguing results: interference from Heath Slater.

Now before you crucify me for stating it here me out, Slater has lost numerous times to Sheamus over the last month.  Slater was also the NXT rookie of Christian in Season 1 and could come back to help his former mentor.

If this would happen, it could lead to an alliance between Christian and Slater (ha, Christian Slater), maybe a WWE version of the Christian Coalition. I think it would be beneficial for both Christian and Slater, whilst not cooling off Sheamus' momentum and allowing the feud to continue.

World Heavyweight Championship: Mark Henry (c) vs Randy Orton

5 of 7

Mark Henry has been on a tear since turning heel and moving to SmackDown in April during the 2011 WWE Draft.  He put big names like Big Show and Kane on the shelf and he went over Sheamus at arguably the WWE's second biggest pay-per-view in SummerSlam.

This led to Henry defeating Randy Orton at Night of Champions to win his first World Heavyweight Championship, 15-years in the making.  Henry has been white-hot for the last couple of months, and has gotten over with the casual WWE fans and Internet fans alike.

However, he must go into Hell in a Cell against SmackDown's Superman Randy Orton.  This match fits Henry's "Hall of Pain" mentality, but with the WWE pushing Orton's unstable anger management character again, this match is a toss-up.

Predicted Winner: New World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton

It's a sad fact, but Randy Orton will regain the World Heavyweight Champion at Hell in a Cell.  Henry's Hall of Pain will come back to haunt him, as I see either Big Show or Kane returning to action to confront Henry.

The only way I see Henry retaining his World Heavyweight Championship is if Orton get's screwed by "Un-dashing" Cody Rhodes in order to continue this mini-feud they have going on.  I want Henry to retain, but in such a pro-Cena and Orton world, that seems unlikely.

WWE Championship: John Cena (c) vs CM Punk vs Alberto Del Rio

6 of 7

This match is being built up as the first ever Triple Threat Hell in a Cell match between the current WWE Champion and the face of the company John Cena, the Best in the World CM Punk, and the Mexican Aristocrat Alberto Del Rio.

This is the most built match on the card and will be the main event of the evening. Each person in this match has as much of a chance of winning as the other.

Cena is coming off of his 10th WWE Championship win and is the face of the WWE, that alone is enough reason for Cena to get the win.  CM Punk has single-handedly flipped the wrestling world upside down with his legendary promo months ago and it would be beneficial for the company to have Punk leave Hell in a Cell with a WWE Championship win. Del Rio is the biggest Mexican superstar with Rey Mysterio on the shelf and Sin Cara in a state of limbo and with a WWE tour of Mexico coming up soon.

It has been rumored that WWE wants Del Rio to headline the tour as WWE Champion.  Who pulls out the win on Sunday?

Predicted Winner: John Cena retains the WWE Championship

Unfortunately for everyone, Cena is going to end up retaining his WWE Championship.  WWE would never take their title off of their precious golden boy a mere two weeks after winning it.

Punk is wrapped up in his conspiracy storyline with Triple H and John Laurinaitis.  I see Del Rio coming out of Hell in a Cell strong and continue his feud with Cena leading to a match at Vengeance and the 5 on 5 Survivor Series match with the Rock.
