Michael Vick and 4 Passers on the Hot Seat
Another week is in the books, and again, we have some controversy at the quarterback position in the NFL.
Unless your team has Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady or Ryan Fitzpatrick, you are likely worrying about your starting quarterback.
Some quarterbacks have done a decent job thus far, but there have been some that have just been dreadful to watch.
These five passers are looking to be on the hot seat now or very soon.
Honorable(?) Mention: Michael Vick
1 of 5Why is he on this list: Michael Vick is only on this list because he is just not performing at the level he did last season. It may be a little early to put Vick on the hot seat, but this team had high expectations and he just not been abel to deliver as expected. Vick may be out next week due to the injury to his hand and last week's concussion, but more importantly, Vick has thrown an interception with three fumbles in each of his last two games.
Those are not starter numbers. If he is healthy though, Vick will be playing due to his massive contract, and that he still gives the Eagles their best chance to win.
Chances he will start Week 4: 50 percent pending injury
Who could replace him: Mike Kafka or Vince Young
Kerry Collins
2 of 5Why is he on this list: Collins is on this list because he has yet to perform in three straight weeks for the Colts. Given it is a new system, Collins isn't relatively familiar with what is going on.
He is also filling in some big shoes of Peyton Manning's, plus he is just no Peyton Manning. After getting injured in Week 3 and the Colts falling to 0-3, it has likely been the end of Kerry Collins in Indy.
Chances he will start Week 4: 10 percent
Who could replace him: Curtis Painter is the only viable candidate available on the roster as of now.
Alex Smith
3 of 5Why is he on this list: Will the 49ers ever just get it? Alex Smith has done nothing this season, but the 49ers are still 2-1. The 49ers are unlikely to change things when they are going good, but with one or two bad games, you could bet that Alex Smith will be on his way out.
The 49ers offense has hardly done anything, and their only big victory (33-17 against Seattle) was hugely in part due to two kick returns for touchdowns.
Chances he will start Week 4: 100 percent
Who could replace him: Colin Kaepernick. Exactly. This is why Alex Smith will likely continue to start. If things get bad, and they easily can, the 49ers may try something else.
Donovan McNabb
4 of 5Why is he on this list: You have arguably the best running back in the league, and you are 0-3. You have had a huge lead the last two games, but you couldn't pull it together when it was needed most.
The Minnesota Vikings need to get something else going because McNabb is not getting it done. It was a good try, but it is time to give Christian Ponder his shot.
Chances he will start Week 4: 30 percent
Who could replace him: Christian Ponder. It is time for the Vikings to try something else. Sure, they had the lead the last few games, but it is time to get Ponder out there. If Leslie Frazier wants to see another season in Minnesota, he should make the move now.
Tavaris Jackson
5 of 5Why is he on this list: Tavaris Jackson has proven why he couldn't start in Minnesota. He just isn't a good quarterback. He has had multiple opportunities, but he just can't produce.
The Seahawks are at 1-2 this season, and they will likely keep adding up the losses if they keep Jackson out there. He is averaging a little more then 100 yards a game and has only thrown two touchdowns thus far this season.
Chances he will start Week 4: 40 percent
Who could replace him: Charlie Whitehurst. The Seahawks made the move to bring Whitehurst last season, so they might as well give him his shot now.
