Ozzie Guillen: Fiery Manager Makes Florida Marlins Relevant in South Florida

Gabe ZaldivarSep 26, 2011

The Chicago White Sox have said goodbye to an era of passion, fire and exuberance. Ozzie Guillen will head to Miami and take over for the Florida Marlins, making the struggling club relevant.

Two men with very different ideas on the future of the Chicago White Sox met on Monday. By the end of the meeting between Guillen and White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, the immediate future was evident.

ESPN reports the White Sox have accepted their manager's request to be released from his contract. Guillen was under contract until the end of the 2012 season.

The report also states Guillen will take over for the Florida Marlins' Jack McKeon, who stated that he would retire after the 2011 season.

The White Sox will miss Guillen. Despite his tirades, blowups and expletives, he was a passionate coach that helped deliver the World Series to the south side.

One franchise's loss is another's gain. And the Marlins could not ask for a more fitting manager to take the franchise into a new era.

In 2012, the team will be rebranded as the Miami Marlins and open a brand new stadium. For once, the franchise may get an infusion of fans. The addition of Guillen will only help matters.

As the weather heats up and the humidity soars, the man with many opinions will let them be known to the masses. The Marlins may be stuck in the cellar, but they have a young squad that can play an exciting brand of baseball.

Towering blasts by Mike Stanton should be adored by thousands, not hundreds. Guillen will put butts into seats of the team's new digs.

You simply can't ignore the zeal the man has for this glorious past time. When Miami faithful turn on the TV in the summer, they will be greeted by Guillen going off on something done or said in a June night game.

The censors will have to work overtime as Guillen gets his point across. The viewer, glued to the television, will have an innate desire to find out what is making this man so passionate.

The ticket sales will rise, which for the Marlins, would be a miracle.

The White Sox's future is uncertain. We have no idea which direction the team will go.

For the Marlins, we know exactly what to expect, and I am extremely excited for it.
