WWE Hell in a Cell: Mick Foley Should Be Dead and the 20 Greatest Cell Spots

WWE Hell in a Cell has been defined by its deadly nature highlighted by a series of (once) dangerous matches.  Blood was all but mandatory in the pre-PG era of WWE's high-profile cage match, however the tamer WWE has led to less brutality inside what was once a guaranteed bloodbath. 

There has been a history of insane Hell in a Cell spots that add to the mystique of the very match that WWE has named its upcoming pay-per-view franchise after. 

With the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view just one week away in a TV-PG environment, it is highly unlikely that anything seen this Sunday will compare to some of the more memorable spots in the history of Hell in a Cell.

20. The Undertaker's Super Chokeslam on Shawn Michaels at Badd Blood

The Undertaker's super chokeslam on Shawn Michaels (at the 5:26 mark) was one of the tamer spots in comparison to what we have seen inside the Hell in a Cell, yet it was one of the first significant spots of the matches history.

19. Brock Lesnar's F5 on the Undertaker at No Mercy

Brock Lesnar didn't need help from the cell in order to defeat Undertaker in what was one of the more impressive counters to the Tombstone.

18. Randy Orton's Table Splash on Undertaker at Armageddon

In his early years with the WWE, Randy Orton was never afraid to go to the top ropes. 

This spot, while sloppy, served as one of the better Hell in a Cell spots as a young Randy Orton dove from the top rope onto Undertaker through a table. 

17. Triple H Pedigrees Chris Jericho Atop the Cell at Backlash

Triple H and Chris Jericho's feud never really developed legs, but their first match after their WrestleMania X8 encounter sure was entertaining. 

Triple H's pedigree on Jericho helped him retain the Undisputed WWE Championship. 

16. Triple H Breaks a Sledgehammer over Vince McMahon at Unforgiven

This brutal sledgehammer shot by Triple H was made more exciting by Vince McMahon's brilliant sell of the Triple H's signature use of the weapon

15. Undertaker Hangs the Big Boss Man at WrestleMania XV

A big part of Undertaker's legacy is his iconic undefeated WrestleMania streak.  One of his more forgettable WrestleMania matches came against the Big Boss Man, however it was the spot that came after that proved to be more memorable than anything that happened in the ring.

14. Mankind Falls through Table on RAW

Mankind's second fall off the Hell in a Cell (at the 3:51 mark) was nowhere near as impressive as his first fall, however, it still warrants mention on this list.   

13. Cactus Jack Falls through Table at No Way out

This fall off of the cell (at the 1:34 mark) was Cactus Jack's first.  It was Mick Foley's third.  How he still walks to this day defies logic. 

12. Kane Rips off the Cell Door at Badd Blood

Kane's shocking debut was made even more impressive after he ripped the Hell in a Cell door from off its hinges upon his debut. 

The rest, as they say, is history. 

11. Shawn Michaels Falls through Table at Badd Blood

Shawn Michaels was attitude before the term was even a catch phrase.  He also fell off the cell through a table before that spot was made immortal by Mick Foley. 

10. Shawn Michaels' Elbow Drop on Shane McMahon at Unforgiven

Shawn Michaels always seemed to save his best flying elbows for inside the cell, and this was no exception.  This brutal elbow came at the expense of Shane McMahon, while the son of the WWE Chairman had his head in between a folding chair. 

9. Batista Powerbombs Undertaker through a Table at Survivor Series

Batista and Undertaker had a string of very good matches during their feud of 2007.  One of these matches came in a Hell in a Cell match, where one of the high spots saw Batista powerbomb Undertaker through a table. 

8. Undertaker Tombstones Batista on Steel Steps at Survivor Series

I don't know what was more unbelievable, the fact that Batista took a Tombstone on steel steps, or the fact that he went on to win the match at Survivor Series in 2007. 

7. Shawn Michaels Drops an Elbow through a Table at Badd Blood

Triple H and Shawn Michaels' blood feud saw a nice, long string of brutal matches.  Their Hell in a Cell match at Badd Blood featured a Shawn Michaels elbow drop on the Game through a table. 

6. Undertaker Chokeslams Edge through a Table at SummerSlam

Edge was chokeslammed off of a ladder following his Hell in a Cell loss to Undertaker at SummerSlam of 2008.  Following the high spot, the Rated R Superstar was effectively "sent to Hell."

5. Undertaker Chokeslams Mankind on Thumbtacks at King of the Ring

Mankind taking a chokeslam on thumbtacks was one of the many memorable moments of a match that pretty much made him famous against Undertaker at King of the Ring in 1998. 

4. Undertaker Chokeslams Rikishi from the Top of the Cell

It can be safely argued that the chokeslam is the most dangerous maneuver in Hell in a Cell history.  This spot helped prove it, as Undertaker chokeslammed Rikishi from atop the Cell onto a construction truck.

3. Cactus Jack Falls through the Cell, Then through the Ring at No Way out

Mick Foley, this time as Cactus Jack, suffered a fall through the cell similar to Mankind's fall in his match against Undertaker at King of the Ring in 1998.

This particular fall was only different in that poor Cactus fell through the ring. 

2. Undertaker Chokeslams Mankind through the Top of the Cell at King of the Ring

Mankind's fall through the Hell in a Cell helped contribute to a legendary highlight reel of violence that has gone on to define his career. 

Spots like this made it even more miraculous that he was able to walk out of the Civic Center (barely) in one piece. 

1. Undertaker Throws Mankind from the Top of the Cell at King of the Ring

There should be no argument as to what the No. 1 spot in Hell in a Cell history is.  Mankind's fall from the top of the Hell in a Cell at King of the Ring in 1998 sparked a meteoric rise that transformed the "Mankind" character into the hardcore legend otherwise known as Mick Foley.
