Week 4 Fantasy Football Rankings: 3 Biggest Busts Who Will Continue to Struggle

Josh MartinJun 6, 2018

The 2011 NFL season has not been kind to so many fantasy football studs and their owners. Big point-producers like Jamaal Charles and Kenny Britt have already been lost for the season to injury while still others, like these three, have battled through injuries and poor play that figures to persist as they proceed through the schedule.

Michael Vick, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Calls or no calls, it's clear that Michael Vick is getting pounded under center this season, no thanks to the Eagles' porous pass protection. Vick's concussion and right-hand contusion merely underscore that he's been hounded, harried, harassed and hit as much as, if not more than, any other quarterback in the NFL.

Vick should be able to play next week against the 49ers, though perhaps at his own peril given the shoddy offensive line play he's thus far gotten in front of him. He'll get a bit of a reprieve from pressure at Buffalo before Philly plays three games against the destructive defenses of Washington, Dallas and Chicago.

That's assuming, of course, that Vick can stay healthy for long enough not to cede control of the Eagles' offense to Mike Kafka and/or Vince Young before then.

Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans

Chris Johnson, on the other hand, has been playing like a wounded warrior, even though all indications are that he's as healthy as he's ever been (in the wallet, at least).

CJ2K is scraping the bottom of the running back barrel at the moment. With just 98 yards on 46 attempts, Johnson's yards-per-carry average of 2.1 currently ranks as the lowest among all rushers with at least 25 touches.

His worst performance (21 yards on 13 carries) came this past weekend against a Broncos defense that surrendered 100-yard rushing games to Cedric Benson and Darren McFadden in its first two games.

To his credit, Johnson has remained productive in the passing game, pulling in 13 balls for 91 yards. He'll have an excellent opportunity to get his legs back under him in Week 4 against the Browns, who've allowed the fourth-most rushing yards of any team in the NFL to this point.

By the same token, though, if Johnson struggles in Cleveland, it may yet be time to sound the fantasy alarm on a 'back who took the money and, well, stopped running.

Santonio Holmes, WR, New York Jets

Something strange is afoot, indeed, with Santonio Holmes. The Jets' No. 1 receiver has seen his opportunities decrease from week to week. Holmes went from 10 targets and six catches for 70 yards in Week 1 against the Cowboys to four targets and three catches for 42 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the Jaguars, to two targets and one catch for 19 yards this past Sunday against the Raiders.

Where, oh where, have Santonio's catches gone? It would appear that Holmes is getting lost in Gang Green's receiver shuffle, behind LaDainian Tomlinson, Dustin Keller, Derrick Mason and Plaxico Burress.

So while Mark Sanchez owners may be rejoicing over the quarterback's improved numbers and his willingness to spread the ball around, the same certainly cannot be said for those who would lean on Holmes for fantasy production. The Jets have some favorable pass defenses coming up on their schedule, but that may favor Holmes' teammates more than his fantasy owners.
