NFL Week 3 Hot Seat: Jack Del Rio and 4 Coaches Under Fire
Despite winning their first game against the Titans, the past two weeks have not been pretty for Jack Del Rio and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After a dismanteling at the hands of the Jets last week, the Jaguars decided to unveil their new quarterback, Blaine Gabbert. The Jaguars offense did not see much improvement against a defense who is not near the caliber that they faced last week in New York, scoring only 10 points in the loss.
With Peyton Manning out for the foreseeable future, the door has opened for a new team to seize the AFC South. So far, the Jaguars are not taking advantage of their best chance to win the division in over a decade.
One of the main reasons Del Rio still has a job is because owner Wayne Weaver does not want to have to pay two coaching salaries. If things don't improve in Jacksonville, maybe Mr. Weaver would rather pay for Del Rio to not coach.
Todd Haley
1 of 4In about three weeks time, the Kansas City Chiefs have somehow gone from a playoff team to one of the worst teams in the league. In the process, they have lost two of their best players, Eric Berry and Jamaal Charles.
Unfortunately for Haley, the Chiefs weren't playing well with those players anyway, which evidences that the problem in KC may have deeper roots.
Apparently, GM Scott Pioli and Haley have a rather unstable relationship, which is just a recipe for disaster in the NFL. If nothing else, Pioli may fire Haley just because they aren't getting along.
Tony Sparano
2 of 4The Dolphins have not won a game this season, and they have only one home victory since 2010. Think about this: The Patriots have won more games in Miami in that span than the Dolphins have.
The Dolphins almost moved on from Sparano in the offseason but gave him an extension instead. That may be the only thing that will keep Sparano employed if things don't improve in Miami.
Jim Caldwell
3 of 4We knew the Colts would not be nearly the same team without Peyton Manning. But the way this team is playing, they may not be winning games even if Manning was in the lineup.
They are having problems on defense and special teams. They are turning the ball over consistently. Someone is to blame here, and it's not Kerry Collins.
Andy Reid
4 of 4The Eagles, with all of their talent, are just 1-2. A lot of that falls on their terrible offensive line and linebacker play, but they should be able to make adjustments with all of the talent on the rest of the roster.
If the Eagles don't make the playoffs, impatient Eagle fans will call for Andy's head.
