WWE: Why CM Punk Is First in Line for John Cena's WWE Title

They were both left at the altar. One was the WWE champion, the other lost in controversial fashion. And again, both want redemption.

It's hard to look at John Cena with the WWE world title and see anyone other than CM Punk challenging him for the strap. But, as we all know, this is wrestling. Things change, feuds begin and blood is shed.

John Cena is such a proponent of CM Punk getting in the ring with him, it almost sounds like they are courting one another. You know that syrupy-sweet love for one another that makes you sick on the inside?

Pass the barf bag!

But in all fairness, Punk was cheated out of his rematch for the title with Alberto Del Rio, Del Rio lost his belt to Cena and here we are with three men waiting to face each other at Hell in a Cell.

Oh, what a night!

I cannot think of anyone else who would be worthy of facing Cena for the title or anyone else who deserves to be the first man to challenge for the title.

Punk and Cena are a wrestling match made in heaven. Two gladiators who are part of the new establishment—two faces with different goals and views. Both men of high respect for each other and two who sell like no other wrestler does for each other.

You can make a case that a Dolph Ziggler or Del Rio or even Cody Rhodes under the right circumstances should get a shot at the title. But Punk makes more sense for things down the line.

As Cena has said before, "He is the only man worthy of getting in the ring with me."

If the WWE creative team does what is right, we will see Cena/Punk in an arena near you. If they do what is right, we will see two combatants go at it like they have before. And if they do it right, there will be more matches where we see two guys who love competing against each other battle it out and leave everything in the ring.

That is the way it was before, and that is the way it should be now.
