Fantasy Football Week 3: 3 Stars Headed for Disappointment

Ryan RudnanskySep 21, 2011

If this was a video game, every NFL star would put up the same stellar numbers as the year before.

But unfortunately for some fantasy football owners this season, this is not a video game, this is reality. No amount of Madden 12 will change the fact that some stars are bound for disappointment this season.

And don't tweet fantasy stars that they are letting you down. That only angers them. Like Houston Texans running back Arian Foster.

Here are three fantasy stars that will disappoint based on their average draft position in 2011.

3. Steven Jackson, RB, St. Louis Rams

Steven Jackson may be 28 years old, but he's got more mileage on him than Al Davis. The least amount of carries in a season he's had since his second year has been 237, and he rushed 330 times last season for 3.8 yards per carry, the worst mark of his career.

On top of that, he just injured his quad and his offensive line appears to be mired in the trenches as if they were in quicksand.

Not good.

Stay away from this man, as respectable a running back as he's been throughout his career. Not worth the ADP.

2. Frank Gore, RB, San Francisco 49ers

Gore, like Jackson, is 28 years old. I won't compare him to Al Davis—that would be overkill—but it's safe to say he's been the centerpiece of the 49ers offense throughout the years.

So far, Gore has rushed 42 times for 106 yards, good for 2.5 yards per carry.

I don't expect this big a dropoff for the rest of the season, but there's no doubt the 49ers offensive line hasn't been as good as expected and quarterback Alex Smith doesn't exactly keep defenses honest.

And this is coming from a Bay Area guy.

1. Sam Bradford, QB, St. Louis Rams

Such high hopes for Rams' second-year quarterback Sam Bradford this season. They may never be realized in 2011.

Putting Bradford here has nothing to do with Bradford himself. He's a quarterback NFC West foes the 49ers and Seahawks would love to get their hands on and an up-and-coming star.

But the Rams offensive line, even with the addition of guard Harvey Dahl, has been surprisingly lackluster, and Bradford has sustained seven sacks already.

That's not even the worst of it. Bradford could have easily been sacked more times in Week 2, but they were counted as "pressures" because he got the ball out so quickly.

Bradford has one touchdown through two games.
