2011 Fantasy Football Rankings Week 3: Running Back

Ryan LesterSep 20, 2011

After another exciting week of football, here is the LestersLegends Week 3 fantasy running back rankings.

1.  Chris Johnson vs. Denver:  CJ2K may want to change his moniker to CJ1K after totaling 77 yards in two games, but he should get back on track against the Broncos.

2.  Ray Rice at St. Louis:  With his feet and his hands, he simply gets the job done.

3.  Darren McFadden vs. New York Jets:  The Jets are tough, but Run DMC is doing what he wants.

4.  Peyton Hillis vs. Miami:  Doing his best to avoid the Madden Curse.

5.  Rashard Mendenhall at Indianapolis:  The Colts still can’t stop the run.

6.  Adrian Peterson vs. Detroit:  Lions are menacing, but All Day has been everything you could ask for thus far. Can he learn how to pass? Better yet, can he play left tackle?

7.  LeSean McCoy vs. New York Giants:  He’s a good bet whether or not Vick is able to go.

8.  Michael Turner at Tampa Bay:  All the talk that he would be on the decline this year, I’m not seeing it.

9.  Ben Tate at New Orleans:  Foster just isn’t healthy. It doesn’t make sense to keep playing him until he’s healed.

10.  Matt Forte vs. Green Bay: Even a shootout won’t take Forte out of the mix. He has nearly twice as much receiving yards as rushing thus far.

11.  Maurice Jones-Drew at Carolina:  Who will start at QB is up in the air, but Mojo will get his, regardless.

12.  Ahmad Bradshaw at Philadelphia:  Eagles have struggled to stop the run.

13.  Fred Jackson vs. New England:  Earning respect with each passing week, just like Buffalo’s offense.

14.  Beanie Wells at Seattle:  Has 90-plus yards and a score in both games this year.

15.  Frank Gore @ Cincinnati:  Gore has been held to just 71 total yards and 0.5 TDs per game this year, but he should have a nice showing against the Bengals.

16.  Jahvid Best at Minnesota:  The Lions are humming on offense. Minnesota is only playing for one half.

17.  Tim Hightower at Dallas:  Thriving in Mike Shanahan’s system.

18.  Shonn Greene at Oakland:  Should build on last week’s performance.

19.  LeGarrette Blount vs. Atlanta:  Got on track vs. Minnesota just in time.

20.  Mike Tolbert vs. Kansas City:  Made some costly mistakes against New England. He’ll bounce back.

21.  Steven Jackson vs. Baltimore:  He should be ready for this one, but the matchup is tough.

22.  Ryan Mathews vs. Kansas City:  Played a great game against the Pats. Should be enough for both backs in this one.

23.  Cedric Benson vs. San Francisco:  With an improved passing attack the Niners won’t be able to load the box.

24.  Felix Jones vs. Washington:  His shoulder concerns me, but he may avoid missing game action.

25.  BenJarvus Green-Ellis at Buffalo:  Pats mix things up, but the Law Firm is a touchdown producer.

26.  Marshawn Lynch vs. Arizona:  He’s been underwhelming so far, but it’s his chance to break out.

27.  Willis McGahee at Tennessee:  He’ll move up if Knowshon Moreno can’t play again.

28.  James Starks at Chicago:  Clearly he’s the best back Green Bay has.

29.  Reggie Bush at Cleveland:  Took a step back last week, but should improve this week.

30.  Darren Sproles vs. Houston: Remains a key cog in the Saints’ passing attack.
