Baltimore Ravens and Teams That Looked the Worst in NFL Week 2
Coming off a huge win against the biggest rivals in Week 1, the Ravens expected to walk into Tennessee and impose their will on the Titans.
Instead, the Ravens played a pretty ugly game and let the Matt Hasselbeck-led Titans drop their record to 1-1. They contained Ray Rice to a measly 3.3 ypc and only allowed Joe Flacco complete 15 of 32 passing attempts. Meanwhile, Hasselbeck threw for over 350 yards in a 26-13 victory. The Ravens had no answers for Kenny Britt, as he caught nine balls and accounted for 135 yards and a touchdown.
After beating the Steelers into submission, everyone wanted to finally put the Ravens into the "elite" category, but this proved to be a classic "trap game." It's back to the drawing board for the Ravens.
Let's take a look at other teams who looked awful in Week 2.
Jacksonville Jaguars
1 of 4The Jets absolutely dominated the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday, as the Jags only scored three points on a 55-yard field goal by Josh Scobee to escape the shutout.
Luke McCown was downright awful, as he threw pick after pick, one of which CB Antonio Cromartie took back for a touchdown. McCown only amassed 59 yards through the air (at least he beat Donovan McNabb's mark of 39 last week) before he was finally pulled in favor of Gabbert in the fourth quarter.
Jaguars fans are going to have to hope that Gabbert can play, because from what we have seen today, McCown does not look up to the task. Granted, he was playing against a good Jets defense, but he was clearly rattled early and never was comfortable.
The defense looked average, giving up 24 points (the other nine came off a pick-6 and a safety), and held the Jets ground game in check. But Sanchez was able to have some success through the air despite throwing two picks.
Seattle Seahawks
2 of 4Seattle may have been a little unlucky getting the Steelers after their ugly loss to Baltimore, but they were hardly even competitive in this game.
I give the defense credit for holding the Steelers to just 24 points with how ineffective their offensive counterparts were. They were shut out, plain and simple. They only ran the ball nine times—which is certainly an interesting game plan—and that is if you count the time Jackson ran out of the pocket. They only gave Lynch the ball six times for a whopping 11 yards.
Right now, the only thing the Seahawks are competitive in is the race for the first pick in the draft.
Indianapolis Colts
3 of 4Until further notice, the race for Andrew Luck is now between Seattle and Indianapolis.
They looked a little better than they did last week (honestly, they could not have looked much worse), but this team is just nowhere near the team Manning-version on this team. They could not sustain drives and kept turning the ball over.
This team is not built to play with an even score, never mind with a deficit. Lots of work still to do in Indy.
Kansas City Chiefs
4 of 4Only scoring three points and letting up over 40, this game looked a lot like their Week 1 meeting with the Chiefs.
Only this time, it's worse. They lost Jamaal Charles to a knee injury, which is a huge blow to an offense that was already having its share of struggles.
The Lions beat the Chiefs in every phase of this game. They turned Cassel into a turnover machine, and it was all downhill from there.
Haley's seat is getting a bit hotter with every humiliating loss.
