WWE Night of Champions 2011 Results: Christian Will Somehow Still Be Embarrassed

Brandon GalvinSep 18, 2011

It doesn’t matter what happens at WWE Night of Champions 2011; WWE will find a way to embarrass Christian.

It’s actually remarkable how quickly Christian has fallen from the top. We knew Christian would be ousted from the Main Event scene after being buried by Randy Orton at SummerSlam last month, but this is astonishing.

Christian doesn’t even have a match at Night of Champions, which is a slap in the face to one of the best overall performers in the WWE Universe.

Even worse, I’m sure WWE will have him do some stupid segment about trying to weasel his way into getting another Championship match.

Either that, or he’ll lose an impromptu match to somebody like Justin Gabriel.

It’s just pathetic how Christian has been treated in recent weeks. He started the summer so strong and looked like the legitimate top heel in the company. He had the perfect angles going, as he was the classic conniving heel. He was the premier weasel in the WWE Universe, but WWE just had to get the Championship back on Orton to feud with Mark Henry.

It’s incredible that WWE has a plethora of talent on SmackDown that they could’ve utilized in Christian, Sheamus, Wade Barrett and Daniel Bryan, but they’re nowhere to be found.

WWE only has two matches from SmackDown on the Night of Champions card, but five matches that could be deemed a “RAW” match. If the brands are suddenly being merged to an extent, it would be nice to see the quality performers from SmackDown receive their due credit.

Maybe they’ll pull an impromptu six-man tag with Gabriel, Heath Slater, Christian, Sheamus, Barrett and Bryan. Still, is that really what we want? Do we really want to see another throw away match?

No, we don’t.

We want matches with meaning. Unfortunately, one of the few men capable of carrying a program throughout a card has been shunned on WWE programming.

I don’t know why WWE is intent on burying Christian, but they are doing a great job. It would have made perfect sense for Christian and Sheamus to start a program leading into Night of Champions—and it even looked that way for two weeks. Now, they’re nowhere to be found.

It’s disgusting that Christian and Sheamus were both shunned recently, but at least Sheamus has been built up nicely as a face. Instead, Christian looks like a fool week-in and week-out.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see how WWE decides to make Christian look even worse than he already does heading into the event.
