Fantasy Football Week 2: Start 'Em/Sit 'Em, 10 Players Who Are on the Fence
Struggling with your lineup? Can't decide between say Felix Jones or LeGarrette Blount? (That's my scenario.) Maybe you're wondering if Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons can rebound from a lowly showing in Chicago?
We all have our questions, and sometimes we just have to guess, but taking a look ahead can give you some peace of mind heading into your Sunday.
Here we go-Start 'Em and Sit'Em!
10. LeGarrette Blount
1 of 10LeGarrette Blount disappointed his owners BIG TIME last week when he gained a miserable 15 yards on only five carries.
In all honesty, it's not his fault that his stats were so low since he did only have five carries.
You have to imagine that the Bucs will look better this week versus Minnesota, and despite the Vikings having a good run defense, Blount should be able to produce, especially near the goal line.
The Verdict: START
9. Kerry Collins
2 of 10Kerry Collins and the Indianapolis Colts looked absolutely miserable in Week 1 against their division rivals the Houston Texans.
All everyone is saying is how Peyton Manning is the whole team, and Collins needs to prove this to be (at least a little bit) untrue.
I think he will do this against the Cleveland Browns, who looked equally miserable in Week 1.
The Verdict: START, but only in leagues that start two quarterbacks
8. A.J. Green
3 of 10A.J. Green scored in his NFL debut and the Cincinnati Bengals looked solid as they beat their division rivals, the Cleveland Browns.
Despite a nice opening for Green, the stat line might as well be weighted; the Browns played like crap.
Green will struggle this week against the Denver secondary. On the other hand though, his teammate Cedric Benson is a must start.
The Verdict: SIT
7. Rashard Mendenhall
4 of 10Week 1 stat line for Rashard Mendenhall: 12 carries, 45 yards, and a fumble.
EWWWWW.
Fear not, Ben Roethlisberger must have taken the entire Pittsburgh Steelers team out to a frat party before last week's game, because they looked amazingly miserable.
They will bounce back this week versus the terrible Seattle Seahawks, and Mendenhall is included in that.
The Verdict: MUST START
6. Stevie Johnson
5 of 10How Stevie Johnson is still not mentioned in talks of the league's top receivers is beyond me. After a great season last year, Johnson started off his season last week by scoring a touchdown while making a circus catch.
Johnson is the real deal and an end-zone machine. Expect him to find it again on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.
The Verdict: START
5. Devery Henderson
6 of 10Devery Henderson should be owned and started in every league this week for a multitude of reasons.
First off, fellow wide receiver Marques Colston is out. This makes Henderson the No. 1 guy in New Orleans. Drew Brees looked great in Week 1 despite losing to the Green Bay Packers, and he should look even better against the Chicago Bears.
The Verdict: START
4. Matt Ryan
7 of 10Matt Ryan was another stud who was a big disappointment in Week 1. He threw for 309 yards but amazingly only had nine fantasy points, thanks to zero touchdowns and an interception.
The Atlanta Falcons are hosting the Philadelphia Eagles in what should be the biggest game of the week. Michael Vick is returning to Atlanta with his "dream team," while Ryan and the Falcons need to get their first win.
I think they will do it, and Ryan will throw for at least two touchdowns.
The Verdict: START
3. Cam Newton
8 of 10Why would you sit a guy who threw for 422 yards in Week 1?
Because he played the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 and he is playing the Green Bay Packers in Week 2.
Newton will be good this season, and you should definitely add him to your roster, yet this will not be his week.
The Verdict: SIT
2. Maurice Jones-Drew
9 of 10MJD may be a stud, but he should be a stud on your bench in Week 2. Here's why...
1. The Jaguars are terrible
2. They will be playing from behind and therefore, passing
3. The New York Jets have a great run defense
4. The Jaguars are terrible
The Verdict: SIT
1. Chad Henne
10 of 10Last but not least, a nice fantasy surprise in Week 1 was Chad Henne.
The Miami Dolphins didn't win the game and Tom Brady stole ALL the thunder by throwing for 517 yards and four touchdowns, yet Henne still had a very good game for a normal quarterback.
He threw for 416 yards, two touchdowns and one pick, and showed to a lot of the Dolphins' fans that he is a legitimate starter.
Will it keep up? Yes. The Houston Texans defense isn't that good still, and Henne is hot.
The Verdict: START
