Week 2 Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: 3 QBs Who You Shouldn't Start

Justin WeltonJun 5, 2018

Quarterback play in fantasy football is essential for a championship season. If you have depth at the position you have bettered your chances to succeed.

Here are three quarterbacks you shouldn’t start in Week 2.

Josh Freeman

Freeman tends to struggle in the early goings before finding his full rhythm in the fourth quarter.

Last week, against the Detroit Lions, it wasn’t enough. This week, he gets another shot at a Minnesota Vikings team thirsty for a bounce-back game.

In 48 attempts, Phillip Rivers threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns against the Vikings. He did, however, throw two interceptions. Tampa Bay will get down early, causing Freeman to throw more often. His mistakes will calculate against a Vikings defense that had the Chargers dead to rights on Sunday.

As the Buccaneers fall to 0-2, Freeman has another so-so game.

Kevin Kolb

Kevin Kolb should have a productive day yardage-wise, but the Washington Redskins defense is going to make plays to cause turnovers. They forced an Eli Manning turnover just once in Week 1, but it was a costly one, as the Redskins returned an interception for a touchdown.

Kolb was proficient against the Carolina Panthers team last Sunday at home. He went 18-of-27 for 309 yards and two touchdowns.

He is still inexperienced at the position even though he has been in the league for five years. Expect a solid game yard-wise, but the overall outcome for Kolb’s day will include a turnover or two.

After losing offensive coordinator Charlie Weis to the University of Florida, Matt Cassel and the Kansas City Chiefs have started the 2011 campaign on the wrong foot.

Cassel went 22-of-36 for 119 yards last Sunday in an embarrassing loss to the Bills at home. Most of his passes were underneath to running backs and tight ends.

He will need to throw the football down the field against the Detroit Lions, but they won’t get enough time from their offensive line because of how good the Lions D-line is.

Ndamukong Suh will get to Cassel on multiple occasions. The Lions defense aids Matthew Stafford and the offense as the Lions move to 2-0 on the season.
