NFL Power Rankings: 3 Teams Who Are Already Contenders for Andrew Luck
By my count, the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft is one million days away.
I'm probably off by a few hundred thousand days, but you get the point. The draft is a long way off, and that means we have a ways to go before we know what the draft order is going to look like.
But after one week of action in the NFL, I do think we have a pretty good idea which teams are going to be jostling for the No. 1 overall pick, which will almost certainly be used to draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It's early yet, but here are my top three early-season contenders for Mr. Luck.
3. Indianapolis Colts (No. 23)
It's only been one game, but I think we all know that the Colts are going nowhere this season. It turns out Peyton Manning is pretty important.
Because I think I need to see one more stinker from the Colts before I can write them off completely, I've decided to stash them at No. 23 for the time being. However, I do think they'll be fighting for the No. 1 pick before long.
So why would a team like the Colts, which has to know that Manning still has a few good years left in him, be interested in Andrew Luck?
Heck, ask Colts vice chairman Bill Polian. According to SI.com's Peter King, he went and checked Luck out in person this past weekend. Something tells me he wasn't just doing that for fun.
2. Denver Broncos (No. 31)
Despite the fact they went 4-12 last season, I actually did come into the season thinking the Broncos were going to be a better team in 2011. They did, after all, bring in a new head coach, and they did make improvements to a defense that needed improvements.
But they looked awful against the Oakland Raiders on Monday night. Yes, Kyle Orton was terrible, but he wasn't the only problem. The Broncos still can't run the ball, they still can't stop teams from running the ball, and they got bullied in the trenches all night long.
For now, I have the Broncos down at No. 31 in my power rankings, and I fear they may stay in that vicinity for the rest of the season. If they do, John Elway may have the pleasure of drafting the man who many are calling the next John Elway.
And no, Tim Tebow's presence would not convince him to do otherwise.
1. Seattle Seahawks (No. 32)
When the Seahawks signed Tarvaris Jackson to be their starting quarterback, they may as well have started printing "Suck for Luck" leaflets right then and there.
And if we learned anything in Week 1, it's that the Seahawks do indeed suck. Sure, they played the San Francisco 49ers tough, but these are the Niners we're talking about. Luck and Stanford could play them tough, and could probably win.
My guess is that we're only going to see more of the same from the Seahawks this year. If so, they have the inside track to the No. 1 pick and Mr. Luck.
