WWE Microphone Wars: CM Punk vs. Rock and 9 Other Electrifying Feuds

Kevin GermanyOct 11, 2011

"Pipebomb!" CM Punk said to Triple H as an episode of Raw was coming to an end. CM Punk and Triple H's great feud inspired me to write a list of feuds that could deliver on the mic.

I would spend $55 alone just to see CM Punk and The Rock square off on the mic. We were privileged to see Stone Cold and CM Punk have a great verbal altercation on Raw.

What? What? What?

With that said, here are 10 wars on the mic that I would want to see. Use your imaginations to set up the feuds in my list.

Honorable Mention

1 of 11

Zack Ryder vs. Robbie E: Why not?

Ultimate Warrior vs. Goldberg: $50 to whoever understands a Warrior promo in its entirety.

Sin Cara vs. American Politicians: Lots of finger-pointing in this feud.

Vickie Guerrero vs. Mute Button: We all know who would win here.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Eddie Guerrero: Talk about class warfare.

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Sandman: Let's just say CM Punk won't approve of the promo.

Scott Steiner vs. Ultimate Warrior: $100 to whoever understands both of them.

Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Edge

2 of 11

What a feud to lead off this list!

The first reason why this feud should take place in my imagination is because both Randy Savage and Edge did Slim Jim commercials in their heyday.

Edge can start the feud by stealing Randy Savage's wife, Ms. Elizabeth. Macho Man will vow revenge at this pay-per-view.

Slim Jim can be the special guest referee in their match.

Snap into this feud!

"The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero vs. R-Truth

3 of 11

Elijah Burke is the most underrated wrestler in the world today. Just listen to this promo if you don't believe me. Still don't believe me? Watch this one to be convinced of his great mic skills.

It is a travesty Pope isn't the TNA World heavyweight champion by now.

I hear a canny resemblance to a man named Dwayne. Yes, I just compared the Pope to the Rock. You can accuse me of blasphemy now.

R-Truth is simply hilarious on the mic. His heel promos on Raw have been a high spot on otherwise lackluster shows. It is a conspiracy he isn't being pushed to the moon. Little Jimmy even cost him the WWE Championship at Capitol Punishment.

Shut up and imagine Pope and R-Truth squaring off on the mic.

Sting vs. Undertaker

4 of 11

Do I really need to say more?

John "Bradshaw" Layfield vs. Miz

5 of 11

Yes. That was Michael Cole disparaging Miz alongside JBL. JBL has been noted for hazing the Miz backstage. Miz even mentioned JBL in a promo.

Very rarely do we see heel vs. heel feuds.

Nevertheless, this must be on this list due to the pure intensity of this feud. Miz can be the sympathetic underdog, while JBL can be the cocky favorite.

Vince McMahon vs. Eric Bischoff

6 of 11

Three words: Monday Night Wars.

Scott Steiner vs. Chris Jericho

7 of 11

Scott Steiner is my favorite mic worker not named after a certain geological object. Chris Jericho might just be one of the greatest mic workers of all time.

Scott Steiner displays his overall brilliance in this video. This feud can begin when Steiner disparages Chris Jericho's homeland of Canada.

Scott Steiner can also teach Chris Jericho lessons in math and astronomy with Steiner's college education.

Chris Jericho can teach Scott Steiner how to cut a coherent promo. Jericho can also teach Steiner some holds.

Jerry Lawler vs. Jeff Jarrett

8 of 11

I wrote a tribute on these two guys before. Jerry Lawler hails from Memphis, while Jeff Jarrett hails from Nashville. These two were a tag team back in their USWA days.

I want to share with you a brief history of the rivalry between the two largest cities in Tennessee, Nashville and Memphis.

Nashville people think Memphis people are low-class. They also think the city of Memphis is a crime-infested dump.

Memphis people think Nashville people are holier-than-thou elitists who blare country music from their Cadillac Escalades.

Memphis is known for blues music and Elvis. Elvis' home of Graceland is in Memphis.

Nashville is known for music that makes you want to leave the country. Sorry, I meant country music.

Anyway, both Lawler and Jarrett are excellent on the mic. Jerry Lawler's love for ECW will contrast nicely with Jarrett's love of WCW.

Jeff Jarrett is a master at creating feuds. His recent feud with Kurt Angle should be the PWI 500 feud of the year.

I can see this feud being very personal given the intense rivalry between Nashville and Memphis.

Degeneration X vs. New World Order

9 of 11

This is the best of DX vs. the best of nWo.

We have never seen these two stables directly feud before. Imagine the promo wars between Shawn Michaels, Triple H and Jesse James vs. Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.

Jesse James deserves to be mentioned amongst those men because of his great mic skills.

This is a war between the two best stables in the Monday Night Wars. Sean Waltman can be the special guest referee, as he was a member of both groups. Interestingly enough, Shawn Michaels was also a part of both groups.

Ric Flair vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin

10 of 11

The Nature Boy vs. The Texas Rattlesnake.

Can you imagine the promos in this feud?

Stone Cold can give the Nature Boy a free beer bath. Ric Flair can give Stone Cold a lecture.

It's the stylin', profilin', limousine ridin', jet-flying, kiss-stealing, son-of-a-gun vs. the Biggest Piece of Trailer Park Trash Walking.

I will gladly hand over $55 in my imagination to see these two cut promos against each other all day long.

But there is one more promo war. This might be the greatest war of words of all time.

CM Punk vs. The Rock

11 of 11

Cue this music as this feud is underway.

The People's Champion vs. The Voice of the Voiceless.

The Best in the World vs. The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment.

CM Punk called "Dwayne" an ass-kisser in his historic worked-shoot promo.

Rock responded to Punk's promo on Twitter.

"

CM Punk: it's simple business - The Rock is the main event at Wrestlemania cause it draws more money in one night, then u will in lifetime.

"

Rock also responds to a recent Punk complaint about being buried.

CM Punk will not face The Rock of 2011; Punk will face the 1999 or the 1998 version of The Rock.

This feud will be absolutely electric on the mic. The Internet wrestling community's champion takes on the People's Champion.

All you people listen to this video for my defense of The Rock once you Punk fans start attacking him.

Do you smell what this feud is cooking?

That was my list of people I would like to see feud on the mic.

Any comments are welcome. I would like to see your list of dream feuds on the mic.

Follow me on Twitter and become a fan.

Thanks for reading!
