WWE Night of Champions: Why Beth Phoenix Will Rise Up and Take the Title

Giulio RomanoJun 4, 2018

The Night of Champions is almost upon us, and with it the rebirth of the Divas division is at hand.

It is with great hope and joy I predict the swift and effective annihilation of reigning champion Kelly Kelly at the hands of "The Glamazon" Beth Phoenix.

Why? Because it simply must happen if this diminished division has any chance of surviving beyond 2011-2012.

The best part is, Beth Phoenix plays up to her moniker quite well and, with her, the Divas championship's prestige will be reborn from the ashes.

I just hope, with all the changes happening, the WWE has enough sense in restoring its original history and re-baptizes it the WOMEN'S championship.

It is long overdue.

At WrestleMania XXVII the title wasn't even defended, and Eve Torres, of all people, was the one to hold it. The fact she even won that belt at the Royal Rumble still puzzles me to this day. Why didn't they just go ahead and book a great Natalya—Beth Phoenix feud as many of us expected?

Having them appear on the show, rather than that annoying Sn00ki, would have given the division the exposure it needed, and a great place to insert a new addition to the mix...Kharma!

Beth Phoenix has never become the Divas Champion, and she was forced to relinquish her last Women's title due to an ACL injury last year. All this could have started earlier had she not been sidelined, but fate, in its infinite wisdom, saw things differently, and now it all comes full circle.

There is no longer any Michelle McCool trying to hog all the power for herself. The Glamazon could now have the long reign she needs to repair all the damage, and eventually jump into a program versus her real life friend, and current ally, Natalya. This in turn would open the door perfectly to welcome a returning Kharma into the championship drama.

Where does that leave poor Kelly Kelly?

No one can deny she gets a great reaction from the crowd the minute she comes out, and her recent one-upping of the Sisters of Destruction means that, in time, the girl can become a great character in her own right, like Trish Stratus before her.

However, her in-ring skills needs more refining, and she needs to expand her arsenal of moves if she is ever to be taken seriously. Can you imagine her taking on Kharma right now? There would not be any surprise roll-ups for the victory. No way in hell could she ever defeat that impressive woman.

She is so young, anyway, and time is on her side. As Beth Phoenix reigns supreme and defeats all opposition, K2 can brush up her skills and return in time to start a new chapter in her life and her WWE Career.

Night of Champions broadcasts from Buffalo, NY this year. It is The Glamazon's home town, and she definitely has the advantage. If you recall, she lost her Women's championship to LayCool there last year, so the time to avenge this loss has now come.

The second encounter between Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly will be even better than the last.

A clean win is imperative! If we are to be believers in the division again, we shouldn't be seeing any interference, low blows, cheap shots or anything like that. Just a great match between talented performers that lasts past the five minute mark, please.

I personally wish for an über-astonishing "Glam Slam" to seal Barbie's fate and usher in the era of the Sisters of Destruction.

Through fire and smoke, Beth Phoenix will rise again, holding up the championship belt for the fourth time in her career high and proud in front of all her peers.

It will be a glorious moment.
