Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Why You Must Add Redskins TE Fred Davis
Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis has always had a ton of ability, but never really got a chance to break out at the NFL level.
Well, the USC product may finally be getting that chance in his fourth year.
Davis saw an increased number of snaps in Week 1 against the New York Giants, and he took advantage. The 2007 Mackey Award winner hauled in five passes for 105 yards, and four of those catches went for first downs.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The main reason Davis hasn't really been a big factor in the Redskins offense throughout his career is the presence of two-time Pro Bowler Chris Cooley. However, with Cooley banged up in Week 1, Davis played 58 snaps to Cooley's 38.
Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan has said he will continue to run a lot of two tight end sets to take advantage of having both Davis and Cooley on the roster. As for now, with Cooley slowed by a knee injury, you need to pick up Davis if he is available in your league.
Davis is big, strong and has great hands. It has always puzzled me why he hasn't had a chance to shine in the NFL. In 2009, he had his best professional season, hauling in 48 passes for 509 yards and six touchdowns. Last year, he had just 21 catches for 316 yards and three scores. He was healthy, he just saw a decreased amount of action.
Davis could be a dangerous weapon if used properly, but he has been languishing on Washington's bench behind Cooley for the better part of three years.
With an average (at best) quarterback like Rex Grossman under center, Davis should see a lot of balls headed his way as a safety valve.
If he's still available in your league, pick him up.
