Kerry Collins: Slow Start Should Have Colts Fans Worried
The fact that the Colts are down 34-0 wouldn't normally scare them. We've been through this before, and we've come back from worse. That may be true, but they also had arguably the best quarterback of all time at the helm of their offensive unit.
Now they have Kerry Collins, who has never had a home as a starting QB. Every time he has been able to establish himself as a QB, he leaves for different reasons. Now, he's asked to step into the role of best QB of all-time as an average-to-above-average QB.
Yet, it's not just the offense that can't get it going. The defense hasn't been able to stop a Houston possession outside of the first possession where the Colts got an interception off a tipped Matt Schaub pass.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Colts offense has already turned it over twice thanks to two fumbles by Kerry Collins, which has been deflating to a Colts defense that has already been pushed around on the ground.
Kerry Collins has been standing in there and trying his damnedest to get the Colts back in the game and prove the Colts were right in signing him and starting him over incumbent backup QB Curtis Painter. So far, though, the offensive MVP for the Colts would be either Reggie Wayne or Joseph Addai, who have both been working their butts off to try and help out Collins.
Kerry Collins had a great chance to bring the Colts back into the game with 1:30 and two timeouts remaining. He had a good throw or two to Reggie Wayne, but he quickly threw three incompletions and the Colts offense had to leave the field.
Before the Colts defense could even touch the field, the Colts special teams gave up a touchdown to Jacoby Jones.
The Colts look decimated, depressed and deflated. They don't have any spirit in their moves, and they don't look like they have confidence in themselves. Though this is only one game and the Texans are a good team, the Colts have 15 games to go in this season—all of them likely to be without Manning.
If Collins is going to continue to be the guy, then the Colts need to change their game plan. They want Collins to become Peyton Manning, but no matter how hard they try to do that, it won't happen. There's only one Peyton Manning, and he's sitting at home or in the hospital with a neck brace on. Although, one thing's for certain: Peyton Manning has earned all of those MVPs.
