WWE Night of Champions 2011: The Top 5 Outcomes of John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio

Robert KnightSep 10, 2011

As Night of Champions draws nearer, everyone is talking about CM Punk vs. Triple H. That will be a huge match and no doubt will entertain.

No one is talking about the other main event; John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio.

I do not know if it is because of lack of interest or if people and fans feel they already know what will happen. This match is going to determine what WWE is going to do with the WWE title for the next couple of months going into Survivor Series.

Many feel that Super Cena has returned with his past couple of matches being predictable, typical and Super Cena like throughout them. John Cena is beaten up, comes back, gets the win or he completely squashes them no matter whom the opponents are. Those people and fans also feel that might happen and will happen at Night Of Champions.

While it could happen at Night of Champions other things can happen as well. Alberto Del Rio may win. Everything that can happen at Night of Champions (within reason) will be looked at here in the top five possible outcomes of this match.

Super Cena Prevails

1 of 6

This choice is one that would anger many fans, as it would make them feel that WWE has not learned at all from the past.

Having John Cena win the match in typical Super Cena fashion would destroy the entire atmosphere in this match. Super Cena matches are predictable, boring, has a horrible ending, ruins the fun of watching it because of its predictability and cause fans to riots.

This is a big possibility for WWE to go with and right now, it appears they just might do that with the way they have presented John Cena as of late. If they do this, the next couple of months will be predictable.

John Cena wins the title. He opens up RAW stating that the champ is here, he has restored honor and dignity to the title, he will not allow Alberto Del Rio to have it again and he will keep the title all the way to Wrestemania XXVIII for the showdown with The Rock.

Alberto Del Rio comes out and says his win was a fluke and that he was not ready for the match. He demands his rematch and gets it at Hell In The Cell. Chances are if Super Cena is still running rampant, it will be another win for John Cena going into Survivor Series where the challenger will win because John Cena will be screwed by The Rock.

Fans can only hope that WWE has something else in mind.

John Cena Wins by Being Dirty

2 of 6

If WWE was to hand the title back to John Cena this is how fans would accept it.

Having John Cena win being dirty is a simple way for WWE and the fans to get what they want. WWE would have their big star win the title back and the fans and IWC would wonder about what is being planned for John Cena next.

If this was the case he would win the title by holding on the tights of Alberto Del Rio or putting his feet on the rope in a roll up because of Alberto Del Rio's dirty tactics throughout the match. The next night on RAW he would walk down the ramp and explain to the fans that he knew Alberto Del Rio would do what he did and the only way to beat him was at his own game.

John Cena will continue with he does not see it as a dirty win or compromising his morals because he beat a dirty superstar at his own game. If anyone should feel bad about this, it should be Alberto Del Rio. This would put a great spin for the fans to look at and accept the fact that he is the champion for the time being.

Alberto Del Rio would come out and tell him that he should be ashamed for what he did at Night of Champions. The only way to beat him was through cheating and he should be the one with the title and not John Cena. He would demand his rematch against John Cena and would get it at Hell in a Cell.

John Cena would accept because inside of a cell, Alberto Del Rio would not have any excuses and anything goes. If he wants to prove it is his destiny to have the WWE Title, he is going have to do it then.

From there it would be hard to predict if Alberto Del Rio or John Cena would win. If John Cena were to win the screw job at Survivor Series would take place. If Alberto Del Rio was to win it would set up and rematch at Survivor Series and John Cena would get screwed over by The Rock.

If WWE is going to hand John Cena the title, the fans and I personally hope it is in this way.

Alberto Del Rio Wins Cleanly

3 of 6

Everyone knows this will not happen.

WWE has been full of surprises as of late and while unlikely, it's not impossible. If WWE really wanted to surprise everyone and IWC, this would be the way to do it.

Alberto Del Rio has been on a winning roll and has shown he is worthy as a champion. He has victories over John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, and Daniel Byran. All proven main eventers and all have been champions.

WWE will have a hard time trying to have Alberto Del Rio make John Cena get pinned or submit since he is their top guy.

What WWE could do is have the Ref get knocked down while John Cena hits the AA. With the Ref down and not being able to count, he will go over to him to check him out. From there Alberto Del Rio can hit his Armbar and ware out John Cena. When the Ref finally get up he could hit his series of kicks and pick up the victory.

It would not look pretty, but with Alberto Del Rio not having a primary non-submission finisher having him win cleanly with a pin will prove to be difficult.

Then again, anything is possible.

Alberto Del Rio Wins Dirty

4 of 6

This is one can be easily done by WWE.

Some fans believe that this is the way to go and will happen at Night of Champions. All that needs to happen is for WWE have John Cena and Alberto Del Rio battle for about 20 minutes. After that time, either one of them will knock down the Ref.

When this occurs both of them will continue going at it and John Cena gets the best of Alberto Del Rio. He hits his AA and is waiting for the Ref to get but does not. He will try to wake up and when that is going on Alberto Del Rio will get handed the belt and hit John Cena with it.

When this happens, the Ref will come to and count. John Cena will more than likely kick out. After this, John Cena will put him in the STF and Alberto Del Rio will get to the ropes. John Cena will go for it again and exchange counters.

Eventually Alberto Del Rio will roll up John Cena with his foot on the ropes or grabbing the pants and run out with the victory leaving a better part of the audience in stunned silence.

I can see this ending happening very easily and I think most fans can see it too.

The Match with Either Disqualified

5 of 6

If WWE gets into a bind about what they should do with match they can easily have it end or either getting DQ'ed or a double DQ'ed, With the match winding down and these guys both not knowing what to do, Alberto Del Rio grabs his belt and nails John Cena with it. The Ref rings the bell.

They would get the match at Hell In A Cell since John Cena did win. It could get spun the other was as well. The Ref gets knocked down during the match and Alberto Del Rio tries to use the title on John Cena but misses. John Cena hits him with his usual moves.

When this happens the Ref is trying to get up, John Cena not knowing this nails Alberto Del Rio with the title out of revenge and goes to pin him only to hear the bell shortly after. The Ref announcing that the winner of the match is Alberto Del Rio via DQ.

The final way to go about it is having Awesome Truth come out and wreak havoc on both John Cena and Alberto Del Rio. They do this to make a statement regardless of whether they win the Tag Titles that night. They leave them laying there and the Hell In A Cell match is made the next night on RAW.

While this is very unlike it is a good fall back for WWE in case they are not sure what to do. It will not be the main event of the night since C.M Punk and Triple H will headline so the fans will not go home in disappointment and the storyline continues the next night.

End

6 of 6

The match could end in any number of ways and all of them are very plausible. What WWE will decide is still up in the air with some time left to go until the PPV. Whatever WWE does decide to do it will impact the WWE championship for the next two months.
