Patriots vs Dolphins: Tom Brady, Brandon Marshall and 5 Fantasy Players to Watch

John RozumJun 2, 2018

With fantasy football now in full force mode, players everywhere will be obsessing over who to start, who to sit, who to watch etc...

And when setting a lineup, having a stud player or two in the Monday Night game helps keep you alive in your game if Sunday didn't go so well.

Therefore, for anyone playing with or against the following players in the Miami-New England game, you should watch for them once kickoff commences.

Chad Ochocinco

1 of 5

He's the newest addition to the New England offense, and should fit right in the system along with Deion Branch and Wes Welker.

Although Chad is not as much of a deep threat as used to be, he still has the ability to stretch the field enough in Tom Brady's offense.

Ochocinco's most likely not going to burn up the stat-book for you, but he will produce solid and effective results to be a threat in real and fantasy football.

The only question however, is how he maintains he low-key profile as the season continues, as we all know that he loves the camera.

Reggie Bush

2 of 5

The torch has been passed in Miami from Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, to Reggie Bush in hopes that Tony Sparano's Wildcat formation can continue.

Obviously Bush doesn't have much experience in running the Wildcat, but he is going to be a major focal point in the Miami offense.

He's their best RB for one, and also their second best receiving threat.

So if Sparano can mold Bush into being effective from the Wildcat, in addition to his already versatile ability, the Dolphins' offense will become that much more difficult to prepare for.

In terms of fantasy talk, that's good because Bush gets more touches, thus resulting in more points.

Brandon Marshall

3 of 5

With the QB debacle not over in Miami between Chad Henne and Matt Moore, it's uncertain as to how well WR Brandon Marshall will produce this season.

He's easily Miami's best receiving threat and can stretch the field about as good as any WR in the NFL.

However, being the only established WR on a team that's aching for a new QB will cause defenses to gravitate toward him.

Thus, more bump-and-run coverage, as well as double-teams and man-to-man with safety help over the top.

If Marshall is to succeed in getting you points this season, finding a way to get open on all routes at all passing levels is vital.

Because going deep isn't going to work unless it's properly setup, and neither will sitting in the zone if he's the one being locked on.

Tom Brady

4 of 5

No surprise here that Tom Brady is one of the fantasy players to watch on Monday night in Miami.

The thing is, Brady did struggle against the Dolphins last season.

He never hit 200 yards in either game, and he only tossed a total of three TDs combined in those two games.

It's certain that the Dolphins' defense is focused on slowing Brady down, but with some new weapons in his arsenal (mainly WR Chad Ochocinco), Tom's expected to shred the 'Fins in South Florida.

However, don't be surprised if he doesn't hit the "projected" point total according to your fantasy matchup, because this Miami defense is better than they have been given credit for.

Wes Welker

5 of 5

If there's one guy that the Miami Dolphins would love to have back, Wes Welker is that guy.

When in Miami, he was a headache for coach Belichick to prepare for, and now that he's in New England, Welker is Brady's favorite target.

Add in the addition of WR Chad Ochocinco, and the Pats' should see a lot more open routes underneath the coverage that Chad attracts.

Also, he'll be Brady's main check-down if Miami blitzes, because Wes doesn't run patterns further than 15 yards anyway.

The one thing Wes Welker can rack up are receptions, but not so much in terms of yards, because he's more of a possession receiver.

That being said, Welker is extremely dangerous in the red-zone as he's very good at finding the soft spot, as well as being reliable near the sidelines.
