NFL Predictions Week 1: 5 WRs Guaranteed to Rack Up Receiving Yards
Each week in the NFL season there's always those players who dominate, and those who disappoint.
Regardless of position, it can vehemently help your fantasy team, or crush it at the same time.
Also, for the respective teams competing, it reveals the difference of separation between the players who bring it every week, and those who struggle with consistency.
This slideshow, however, is for the WRs of Week 1 who will romp their opposing pass defenses en route to a dominating season-opening performance.
Roddy White
1 of 5Even when the Chicago Bears had safety Danieal Manning, their pass defense was average at best.
Now although they managed to replace him with Brandon Meriweather from New England, it's not going to slow down Roddy White of the Atlanta Falcons.
For starters, Roddy is Atlanta's best offensive weapon, not named Matt Ryan, and even when White's covered, there's still TE Tony Gonzalez, rookie WR Julio Jones, and RB Michael Turner.
That being said, you can expect Chicago's best cover-corner, Charles Tillman, to be on him, but that won't keep White from racking up the yards and catches.
The only way the Bears can prevent this onslaught from happening is to blitz QB Matt Ryan, but "Hotlanta" has too many weapons for the rest of those in the Bears' coverage unit to account for.
Larry Fitzgerald
2 of 5Let's face it, there's arguably no one who can hang with Larry Fitzgerald on a week-to-week basis for a full game, let alone anyone from Carolina.
The Panthers are a rebuilding franchise, whereas the Cardinals are looking to pick up the pieces leftover from their 2008 Super Bowl run.
As mentioned, WR Larry Fitzgerald remains, and he enters a new era with Kevin Kolb as his QB.
Along with that, Todd Heap comes in as a very reliable TE who will attract attention away from Fitz to begin with.
And even if Carolina tries to double-team Larry, they're simply not good enough to out-jump him, or run with him.
If Fitz doesn't dominate this game, 2011 may be an enormous letdown.
Andre Johnson
3 of 5The Indianapolis Colts are currently in dire-straits.
QB Peyton Manning is out for this one, and the Houston Texans are only getting better and better.
That includes stud WR Andre Johnson, who has thrashed the Colts before, and will have another excellent game against them this week.
And it won't matter who's covering him from Indy, because the Houston defense has significantly improved, therefore you can expect Matt Schaub and company to have a lot more snaps.
The Texans are a pass-first run-second offense, and with that being Indy's defensive weakness, Andre Johnson is going to put on an aerial show like no other with Matt Schaub.
Vincent Jackson
4 of 5Despite not being too happy with the Chargers in 2010, WR Vincent Jackson remains, and he should be satisfied in doing so.
Why?
Because QB Phillip Rivers is still under center, and is one of the elite NFL QBs.
Adding to that, San Diego plays host to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, and needless to say, the Vikings' pass defense isn't very good.
Therefore, it's a forgone conclusion that Jackson will be dominant. The only question is, how dominant?
Well, with fellow WR Malcolm Floyd and TE Antonio Gates still in the mix you can expect Rivers to dish the ball around like Magic Johnson.
However, Jackson will get his, and his numbers against a weak Vikings' pass defense will be significant.
Dwayne Bowe
5 of 5In Week 1, the Kansas City Chiefs face-off against the Buffalo Bills in the legendary Arrowhead Stadium.
And with Buffalo parting ways with safety Donte Whitner and LB Paul Posluszny, their defense has taken a significant blow.
This will only allow the Chiefs' offense more opportunities to do as they please, whether it's rushing or passing.
As for passing, WR Dwayne Bowe is the main target, and new slot-man Steve Breaston will make himself well known.
That being said, Bowe will have a big game against a vulnerable Bills' defense that needs to find it's identity.
While that's a continuous investigation, K.C. knows they have some excellent offensive weapons, and Dwayne Bowe is their best receiving threat.
Early on, expect Buffalo to try and stop RB Jamaal Charles, which in turn, will open up the field for Bowe as the game progresses.
