WWE Night of Champions: 11 Bold Predictions for CM Punk vs. Triple H

Jon FisherSep 8, 2011

The match that has the world buzzing.

CM Punk and Triple H will be the focus at Night of Champions on Sept. 18.  Don't kid yourself, not much thought has been put into the Orton/Henry match or the Del Rio/Cena match.

Reasons include Orton dominating and Del Rio being champion during the Mexican tour.  There are your two World Champion matches.

As for the most unpredictable match, Punk vs. Hunter was anticipated by many and now that the WWE Universe has it, they have no clue what the result will be.  Not only do we believe Hunter will Punk, but some speculate Punk's pay-per-view losing streak will continue.

Just for the record, CM Punk won at SummerSlam.  Regardless of speculation and numerous outcomes that are being analyzed, this match has the potential to be great.

You thought just the regular ol' match was enough, WWE stepped up their game.  It is now a no holds barred match and if HHH loses, he must resign as the Chief Operating Officer of the WWE.

Logic says Punk is going down, but really? Is it entirely possible to count the WWE out on this storyline?  My rebuttal is far from that.

By looking at the results of the past two pay-per-views, I can no longer predict certain matches on the big stage.  Now, can I predict an Orton/Cena or any Raw main event?  I think the Great Khali and the Big Blue Meanie could pull that off.

Let me go even further and say the Scott Hall and Kurt Angle could even predict those outcomes.

It's quite different with CM Punk, because history provides an angle of prediction, where fans like me (IWC member) can come up with 11 different predictions for this match.

Without further or do; let me introduce you to prediction No. 1...

1. CM Punk Wins Clean

1 of 11

CM Punk winning clean. This, in my opinion, will not happen.  With the sudden "release" of Kevin Nash, there is no way this match will end clean.  That's why these are bold predictions right?

If Punk does win clean, there has to be some aftermath that would convolute the fans.  In essence, there are those people who think a clean win is boring and a need for tampering with a match is needed.

In some instances, yes that is very true.  The only way this would work, is with something happening this coming Monday and a clean win is possible.

Fantastic wrestling must come from HHH to give the fans what they want.  Clue in to the fact we need fantastic from Mr. one match a year Helmsly.

If I decided to have Punk winning clean, then it's inevitable what the next slide reads...

2. Triple H Wins Clean

2 of 11

Of course, the devilish eyes gaze at the screen like the Boogeyman before he vomits worms into his opponent’s mouth.

This scenario must be the most popular, because almost every IWC member fears this ending for their own life.  When have we seen HHH bury someone just to make to the top? (Insert most of the roster here)

All jokes and reality aside, Hunter has the potential to win this match clean for the storyline to continue. In no manner is this program over or worsened, but it might have just gotten more creative.

With the release of Nash, that opens up the playbook for WWE to pull off something great.  Hasn't X-Pac been teasing a return once or twice?

While that would be fantastic, be a realist.  If HHH does win this match cleanly, what do you think will occur after the fact?  Punk could go after the title, due to the Rock vs. Cena in some fashion at Survivor Series.

Speaking of Mr. Future Endeavored himself...

3. Kevin Nash as Guest Referree

3 of 11

This is one of my two real bold predictions.  I'm going to go out on a limb and say this will be similar to the firing of John Cena.

Let's reminisce shall we:  Cena was fired by the Nexus after he counted the proverbial 1-2-3 on Wade Barrett as he lost to Orton in a title match.

Week after week, Cena came back through the crowd, car garage and once in a dressing room and made the Nexus's life very bad.

Could we be seeing this again?  I, for one would love to see Nash as the guest referee.  Remember now, he is not actually released.  He even went on twitter today and explained why: financial issues.  That man was reported to have a luxury legends contract.

This scenario is intriguing, because since it is no holds barred, there will be no DQ.

Regardless what Nash does, he could potentially partake in this...

4. Kevn Nash Screws CM Punk

4 of 11

This would work out perfectly if Nash was the ref, but then again that was a bold prediction that will most likely not happen.

There is a definite fraction of a chance Nash getting involved in this match somehow and there are more bold outcomes to prove that later on.

The past few weeks, it's been a back and forth battle between the two superstars.  In the mic department, Punk has beaten down and obliterated Nash.  As for the physical side of things, Nash has the upside.

It's no secret that Nash has put Punk down each time they have met.  I'm thinking Punk will want to settle the score.  Either that or we will witness a Kliq reunion.

Punk insists that HHH and Nash are just acting; or are they?

5. Kevin Nash Screws Triple H

5 of 11

They might have been telling the truth this whole time.

The former Kliq members have showed signs of true negativity and tension the past few weeks and CM Punk is calling it an act.  It all started with the text message that Nash sent himself.

This led up to forgiveness by HHH, but Nash insisted he do something about Punk.  That moment cemented their "feud" and true hatred for each other.  Kevin lost his temper and we all recognize that HHH doesn't like to be pushed around.

Monday Night Raw showed the firing of Kevin Nash and the follow up on WWE.com.  Kevin Nash could intervene in their match at Night of Champions and give Punk the easy 1-2-3.

CM Punk might need a little help though...

6. Colt Cabana Returns to the Aide of CM Punk

6 of 11

This is just a dream.  I had to include this slide.

Let me hit you with some Awesome Truth however...

7. Awesome Truth Interferes and Helps Punk

7 of 11

Really?  Really?  Really?  Really?

That's almost as bad as a sneaky fart.

WAIT, I just had an ephinnenany.  Awesome Truth could make sure HHH gets got!

Alright, enough of the R-Truth references.  These two have had their share of problems with WWE as of late, more importantly Triple H.  They claim there are controversy and a conspiracy surrounding them.

Despite their title match against Air Boom at Night of Champions, Truth and Miz could get themselves involved with Hunter's match.

This could be a sure-fire way to catapult these wrestlers back into the main event.  My only grief with this possibility, if they win the tag-titles, then it looks like Awesome Truth will float around the tag scene for quite some time.

Then again, weirder things could happen...

8. Triple H Loses and Mick Foley Becomes the New COO

8 of 11

My boldest prediction of the series, Mick Foley becoming the new COO would be the ultimate life-injector that the WWE needs.

It is unknown right now if this Nash foil explodes and until then, we have no clue what is going to happen.  The hardcore legend has been talking about a WWE return for quite some time now and Night of Champions is the perfect location.

It cannot be Survivor Series, because Rocky already has booked himself as the whole pay-per-view.  If he is serious about a return to the ring, then he will need some experience working with the company on TV to prepare himself.

I may be rationalizing, but Foley in charge of everything for a short period of time could do some good.

If Foley isn't in charge, then this man certainly could be...

9. Vince McMahon Screws CM Punk

9 of 11

The return of Vince McMahon is imminent people and Night of Champions could be that place and time.  It has been little over a month when we watched the man who created this company be written off TV.

Thanks to CM Punk of course, I can see Vince costing Punk the match and that would ultimately mean, a partnership with HHH.

A partnership could evolve into the current-day Corporation stable and the two men mentioned above would spearhead such a group.

Also, CM Punk has been taking shots at Vince's daughter, which is a big no-no. When you have two of the biggest men in the company against you, expect big trouble.

Let's get a little funky in this slideshow shall we...

10. John "Funkman" Laurinaitis Gets Involved

10 of 11

Is there a clear direction in which Johnny Ace is going?  His character has been shady and unpredictable for the past few weeks and it looks like he is leading to a partnership with Kevin Nash.

My fault, Nash was released on financial struggles.

Other than that inconsistency, Funkman has beef with CM Punk.  At SummerSlam, he demanded Punk to issue an apology and he refused; like that was a surprise.

To think that was enough fuel that Funkman added to the fire, the lie about Nash getting into a car accident lit a fire under HHH's butt.

HHH hasn't really addressed Laurinaitis, except for a brief, "NEVER AGAIN," from Hunter himself.

It's no secret that Ace has something up his sleeve, but this last person also does...

11. Stephanie McMahon Returns

11 of 11

Scary picture don't you think?  I prefer her back in 1998

Week after week, CM Punk has been taking cheap shots at the Billion Dollar Princess.  When she doesn't get her way, someone has to pay; no pun intended.

There isn't much detail to go into about this storyline, because not much exposure to Stephanie McMahon directly has occurred.  She will eventually return and retaliate and what better place than Night of Champions (too cliché?).

Here is how I could see it play out: Punk and HHH are in the nitty gritty of their match and the lights could shut off.  A little Undertaker tease later, Steph appears in the ring with a sledgehammer and a purse.

She goes wild on CM Punk and causes him to lose the match.  That could catapult another storyline intertwined with the Kevin Nash angle.  This could really make the WWE fun again.

Well, those are just 11 bold predictions for CM Punk vs. Triple H at Night of Champions on September 18th.  Many options are out there and I want to hear them!  Please make use of the comment space below and share your bold predictions for this match.

I appreciate any feedback I receive and will put those comments into my future articles.  Take care and have a great day!

I write the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth and its AWEEESSSOMMMMEEEE!
