Eagles vs. Rams: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Donald WoodSep 7, 2011

The Philadelphia Eagles will open up their 2011 season against the St. Louis Rams and this will be the first time the NFL will get a chance to see the revamped look of both teams.

Philadelphia was the clear winner of the shortened offseason rush, but the Rams made some subtle additions including former Eagles safety Quinton Mikell that have put them in a solid position to succeed.

Just not against the Eagles.

What's at Stake?

This game is very important for both clubs, but it has to be a bigger event for the Philadelphia Eagles because of all of their offseason activities. The Eagles will have many eyes on their team and a loss would be an epic disaster.

For the Rams, the NFC West is very winnable and a victory over the heavily-favored Eagles would give St. Louis an amazing jump on the 2011 season.

Fantasy: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em and Sleeper

Start 'Em: Michael Vick, Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has been yearning to get back on the field to redeem himself after the way 2010 ended and the St. Louis Rams are just going to be recipient of his monster fantasy points statement to the NFL.

Sit 'Em: Mike Sims-Walker, Rams

While the addition of another big weapon to Sam Bradford’s arsenal is always a good thing for the young quarterback, new No. 1 receiver Mike Sims-Walker will be getting shut down by one of the three Pro-Bowl cornerbacks the Eagles boast.

Sleeper: Ronnie Brown, Eagles

With the Philadelphia Eagles offense being as potent as they are, they needed a short-yardage back to carry the rock when the Eagles are on the goal line. Expect a few rushing touchdowns if Philadelphia gets close to the end zone.

What They're Saying

Eagles head coach Andy Reid told the Philadelphia Inquirer:

"

I'm not going to get into all the personnel things here. We'll see. Sometimes it's good to take one small step back to take a big step forward. Watkins will be out there practicing. We got Kyle, who also can play, in that spot. We're comfortable with either direction that we go.

"

While the offense in Philadelphia is amazing, there will be serious concerns on whether or not the Eagles offensive line can protect Michael Vick.

"

As of Tuesday afternoon, only about 700 to 800 tickets remained for the Rams' season opener Sunday against Philadelphia. Kickoff is noon at the Edward Jones Dome. Team officials say ticket sales have been brisk, so a sellout appears likely and that means the game would be televised locally.

"

That’s what happens when the dream team comes to town. It’s also what happens when your team is starting to turn the corner to become a playoff team. There is a buzz around this Rams’ team and the city of St. Louis is ready to get behind them.

Eagles Player to Watch:
DeSean Jackson

With all the talk from Terrell Owens about how DeSean Jackson should holdout until he gets paid, there is an honest concern over how the young receiver will handle everything this season. Jackson will be expected to do big things, and if his mind is 100 percent right, the Eagles will be in trouble.

Rams Player to Watch:
Sam Bradford

The St. Louis Rams are going to lean more heavily this season on former No. 1 overall draft pick Sam Bradford and he needs to be ready for the Rams to have any success. Last season Bradford showed he had the potential, but the question remains about how long it will take for him to harness his power.

Key Matchup:
Steven Jackson vs. Eagles Linebackers

The Rams have a tank that calls himself a running back in Steven Jackson and he wants to run all over the Philadelphia Eagles green defense. With three combined years of experience, the young linebackers will have to stop one of the most powerful backs in the NFL.

On the Hot Seat:
Eagles’ Offensive Line

With the offseason additions to the team, the management of the Philadelphia Eagles expects a Super Bowl run this season. If the offensive line can’t protect their 100 million dollar man, Michael Vick, Philadelphia won’t be going anywhere but home early in the playoffs.

Prediction:
Philadelphia Eagles 37 – St. Louis Rams 17
