Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Top 10 QBs Sure to Be Taken First in Your League
Do you want to win your fantasy football league?
Yes?
Well, unless you have some crazy scoring system, you are going to need to have a top quarterback to have a shot at the championship.
There are arguably ten elite quarterbacks this season and having one of the guys on this list will ensure that you will be competitive each of the 16 weeks you start them.
If you opt to skip the guys on this list and gun for a lower ranked QB, you are pretty much playing with fire. They are either too inexperienced, don’t have enough weapons or some other glaring fault that simply isn’t worth the risk.
Take one of these top ten quarterbacks to bring home the fantasy gold.
No. 10: Tony Romo
1 of 10This is the only guy I’m even remotely skeptical about on the list.
Don’t get me wrong, Romo can be an awesome fantasy quarterback, but you have to imagine the Cowboys’ patience with him is growing thin.
He was only able to play in six games last year due to injury and wasn’t playing too well before he went down for the season.
He has had some monster statistical seasons, including 36 TDs in ’07 and 4,483 yards in ’09, so if he can return to that form, he is definitely going to be a worthy fantasy quarterback.
I wouldn’t reach for him, but if Romo falls in your lap, don’t be scared to take a chance on him as your No. 1 QB.
No. 9: Ben Roethlisberger
2 of 10Big Ben was suspended for the first four games of last season and still managed to put up 3,200 yards and 17 TDs. He was quite efficient and led his team back to the Super Bowl for the third time in his career.
After suffering defeat at the hands of the Packers in the big game, look for him to come back this season motivated and ready to sling the rock.
Roethlisberger should have a big season this year and is definitely worthy of being a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in any format.
No. 8: Peyton Manning
3 of 10Doctors have told Peyton Manning not to practice in the days leading up to the regular season kick-off, but you have to remember Peyton has not missed a regular season game in his ENTIRE career.
Even if he does decide to sit out Week One, 15 games of Peyton Manning is going to provide you better stats than most other QBs can even dream about.
Manning’s preparation is legendary and he will get back on the football field and provide huge numbers this season, mark my words.
No. 7: Matt Ryan
4 of 10Matty Ice has some new weapons that will help him become an NFL superstar in his fourth season as the starter in Atlanta.
The Falcons traded up 21 spots in this year's draft and mortgaged some of their future to get Julio Jones, the stud wide receiver out of Alabama.
The team has long struggled to pair up a solid No. 2 with Roddy White, but this is the year they finally get it right.
With two incredible playmakers in his receiving corps, Matty will be an absolute beast in fantasy this year.
No. 6: Matt Schaub
5 of 10The Texans’ offense is downright scary this year. They have All-Pro WR Andre Johnson, breakout RB star Arian Foster and the ever-reliable Matt Schaub under center.
Schaub is going to spread the rock around and improve upon his 24 TDs from last season as opposing team’s game plan and key in on Foster.
I think Schaub may be one of the most underrated QBs in fantasy football and you should definitely grab him if he slides to you in your draft.
No. 5: Phillip Rivers
6 of 10Rivers commanded the San Diego Chargers' No. 1 offense in the NFL last season and threw for a career high 4,710 yards.
He didn’t even have his top target, Vincent Jackson, for the majority of the year.
With VJ and Rivers teaming up for an entire season, look for some scary high numbers from the tandem.
The Chargers are going to be a powerhouse in 2011 and Phillip Rivers’ rocket arm is going to be the catalyst.
No. 4: Drew Brees
7 of 10Brees and Sean Payton’s New Orleans offense is going to be as high-powered as ever.
The team upgraded their running game by adding Mark Ingram, but he should only be factor in stealing goal-line touchdowns.
Look for the Saints to continue to air it out all season and make the playoffs once again behind Brees’ cannon arm. He will put up some big fantasy numbers along the way.
No. 3: Tom Brady
8 of 10Don’t count Brady out as becoming the No. 1 QB in the entire league again this year. He put up the most touchdowns in NFL history back in 2007 and is doing some outrageous things on the football field.
The team added Chad Ochocinco to a ridiculously efficient passing offense that already has Pro Bowl slot receiver Wes Welker and last years No. 1, Deion Branch.
Brady will be in the running to repeat as MVP again this year and will have huge stats to back it up.
No. 2: Aaron Rodgers
9 of 10This Super Bowl winning quarterback is going to have a solid year in 2011. He has one of the top receiving corps in the NFL and is uncannily accurate.
Rodgers is another first-round worthy QB who will always give you a shot at winning your matchup that week. You never know when he is going to go off for one of those monster 300-plus yard, four TD performances, but he has as good a shot as anyone on this list to do it.
You also get some underrated rushing value out of Rodgers, who went off for 356 yards and four TDs last season on the ground. He hasn’t scored less than four rushing TDs since becoming the full-time starter in 2008.
No. 1: Michael Vick
10 of 10Vick is going to be a beast this season. Don’t buy into the nonsense that he is going to get hurt or throw a bunch of interceptions. Take him in the first round and don’t look back.
He led a ridiculous number of fantasy teams to "Vicktory" last year and has earned the top QB spot this year.
His ability to score rushing touchdowns and rack up huge yards thru the air and on the ground make this dual-threat QB the No. 1 threat to your foes.
