Philadelphia Eagles Claim Offensive Guard Kyle DeVan off Waivers

Justin SparksSep 4, 2011

Howard Mudd has his finger prints all over this particular transfer waiver. The former Indianapolis Colts offensive line coach grabbed one of his former students recently released from the Colts.

The Philadelphia Eagles have experienced a medley of offensive line changes over course of the preseason.

They drafted Danny Watkins in the first round to try and fulfill their right guard position. Fellow rookie Jason Kelce earned a roster spot as well this week after starting at center in front of veteran Jamaal Jackson throughout the preseason.

After the Cleveland Browns game, Andy Reid was forced to act quickly in order to protect his team's $100 million quarterback.

Reid and Mudd decided to move Todd Herremans to the right tackle position, a move that should deflect any problems coming from Michael Vick's blindside for the time being.

Kyle DeVan joins the Eagles a day after Philadelphia dropped Mike McGlynn, who was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals according to Philly.com.DeVan rejoins Howard Mudd after starting 12 games in 2010 in Indianapolis.

Reid hopes the former Colts guard can help speed up the learning curve along the offensive line.

If Danny Watkins does not come around by the end of the week, do not be surprised if DeVan slides into the starting right guard spot.
