Cavs-Nets: 11,000 Reasons Why LeBron James Is King

Robert CobbNov 18, 2008

Bleacher Creatures, this my first Cavaliers article on B/R—and it won't be my last, I assure you.

I mainly write about the Browns and their disappointing season, but as a lifelong Cavs fan who grew up watching them in those ugly orange jerseys and has never forgiven them for trading away Ron Harper for Danny Ferry, let's just say I've seen a lot of suffering in my time.

And then the King arrived, and things have never been the same.

From his first game against Sacramento to the exhilarating thrill of seeing the Cavs beat Detroit and go to the NBA Finals, we have indeed been witnesses to greatness.

If you wanted the chance to see why LBJ should be the MVP, then you should have watched tonight's game, as he became the youngest player to ever score 11,000 points.

James dropped 31 on the New Jersey Nets in a 102-86 thrashing to help the Cavs stay atop the Central at 9-2.

It looks like this could be the best Cavs team in recent memory now that LeBron has some help with PG Mo Williams running the floor and SGs Delonte West and Daniel Gibson spreading the floor, LeBron can play off the ball and almost score at will.

In his five seasons with the Cavs, James has been the man, but has never had a sidekick to take the pressure off of him, as the failed Larry Hughes experiment proved only that Hughes was just too fragile.

Teams could double-team James without fear of getting burnt, and as LeBron went so did the Cavs—as the Celtics proved last spring, so the Cavs finally decided to go after a real point guard in Williams from Milwaukee and has it ever worked out so far.

The Cavs are playing a lot more faster this year than before.  Although defense will always be their calling card, it is good that Mike Brown is finally letting the boys run the floor more.  That could really open things up for James, and help him put up numbers that should help him win his first NBA MVP.

And while the arena was less than full in New Jersey, those who were there did see James make history.  He will be doing many more amazing things before his career is over, and will really make the Cavaliers the Beast of the East.

Rise Up!
