Browns Fans, Let It Go, Trent Dilfer Is Right!

Robert CobbNov 10, 2008

Dysfunctional - failing to serve an adjustive purpose; "dysfunctional behavior"

Browns Backers,

Thomas Paine once said, "He who dares not offend, cannot be honest," I guess he never met a Cleveland Browns fan because with "Trentgate" having fans in an uproar, I don't think Trent Dilfer will never set foot in Cleveland again.

But why all the hate for a former quarterback who was just telling fans what they will deny until the bitter end? Dilfer said that we are indeed a bad football team with no sense of direction, management, or a clue, and with the recent remarks by RB Jamal Lewis, you may have to add spineless, as well.

You have to wonder why Browns fans are taking Dilfer's remarks so personal when they have blown TWO double-digit leads at HOME against two hated rivals, and have certain wide receivers who have hands of stone, incompetent coaching, and clueless management.

WE are a 3-6 football team with no realistic shot at the playoffs. We were picked to win the AFC North—if anything, the Browns have been exposed as overrated frauds.

As a Browns fan, I was glad to hear what Dilfer said because no pro team has been as badly run nor is more influenced by fans than Cleveland.

You want proof of fan influence? Just ask Derek Anderson after he threw a bad pass or an interception and was instantly met with a hailstorm of "Brady, Brady" chants, which, while warranted, still led to a 34-30 loss.

If you want to place blame, then look to Berea, Ohio—where they clearly have a staph infection problem that has claimed seven players and is probably the MAIN reason why top-tier free agents won't come to Cleveland. We go through QBs as often as Sienna Miller goes through married men, and with Brady Quinn, we are on our eighth!

While Head Coach Romeo Crennel has his wife updating his resume, he will soon be our fourth head coach to get a pink slip, let me ask you what coach will want to come into this mess?

Dysfunction is best defined as being abnormal and out of the ordinary, and while the Browns have had TWO winning seasons since returning in 1999, the drama and chaos would make for a great reality show.

I strongly feel that the Browns need to get their stuff together, not only now, but for the long-term.

Can they (and will they) commit to Quinn by sticking with him when he falters and fans are demand of ANOTHER QB change?

Can the front office grow a set, along with a spine, and chart a course of stability?

When an organization gives in to public pressure to switch to a QB on a short week, goes through eight quarterbacks, four coaches, and clearly lacks a long term plan of success without even a sliver of stability, that is indeed dysfunctional.

Like it or not Browns fans, Dilfer is right and the reason why many of us are so upset is that the truth leaves a lingering sting.

Bringing The Truth,

Dawgfather
