WWE: Top WWE Moments from the Month of August

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

The past few months may rank as some of the craziest in WWE history. Today, I am going to recap the top stories/moments from August. This will solely focus on WWE, as DixieLand was a laughing stock in August, and ROH is gearing up for the next few weeks.

Some of my picks will be positive (as I try to be), and others are just going to be me "telling it like it is." With that being said, let's dive into it...

5. John Morrison's Downfall

1 of 5

You can sense it. You can feel it. You can already see it coming...well, I can.

I am at a loss of words as to how John Morrison returned, only to lose nearly every single week. When has a "big name" ever returned to little fanfare and staring at the ceiling at the end of every match?

He still has some time to turn it around, but right now, it still seems clear to me. He needs something, or he will soon be nothing.

4. Orton/Christian: Feud of the Year?

2 of 5

I have been 100 percent honest on my thoughts here. I am a big fan of Christian. Sadly, his days in the main event picture are coming to an end (if not already).

Orton should have won at Summerslam. Orton should be World Champion right now, as his series of matches with Captain Charisma are done.

When you look back at the August, you can look back with a smile on your face. These two had great bouts ever single times they went out there, and Summerslam was the climax of the story.

As an extra icing on the cake, we got a great Steel Cage match to end it once and for all. Kudos to both men here!

3. Kevin Nash Text-Gate

3 of 5

This whole mystery with Nash, Triple H, Punk, Johnny Ace, Stephanie McMahon and maybe even John Cena is exactly what this business is about.

Male soap opera storylines at their best! Who sent the text? What is Triple H's agenda? What happened to Stephanie? Why is Nash back exactly? Will Punk ever get his title back?

So many options for this story leading into the fall season. Ratings have not showed the momentum yet, and with Monday Night Football ready to dominate TV, WWE may have to start revealing some answers sooner rather than later.

2. Mark Henry Dominates

4 of 5

For the select few out there who have yet to see the video posted above, please watch that clip now!

The man is doing the best work of his 15 year career (all with WWE by the way, very rare), and it is not going unnoticed. All the praise I can shower on this man will continue, until he does anything but quality work.

Each week, he has impressed, so each week, I gave him kudos. It's that simple!

When you look back at August 2011, a few things will stand out. Mark Henry and his monster push, and the No. 1 story of the past month...

1. Alberto Del Rio Wins His First WWE Title

5 of 5

It can't be anything else. When somebody wins their first WWE/World Championship, it almost automatically becomes the No. 1 story.

It was not anything shocking (not for me at least), but it was something that had to be done. I have listed the reasons as to why many times, but the fact remains the same. Del Rio won the WWE title, and it happened in August 2011, one of the craziest months in WWE history.
