WWE Divas Updates: Maryse, Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres

A few words are spreading on the Internet from Wrestling Observer Newsletter (b/w Wrestlescoop) that former WWE Diva's Champion, Maryse, will be returning within the next week after a successful operation on her hernia.

Aside from her injury we all know the French-Canadian beauty had been used sparingly in the past few months, making sporadic appearances on Superstars and, even rarer, Raw showings. Primarily she was restricted to being the host of NXT. Many feel this is down to her stalker issues from the past few months with the company taking protective action until it was resolved.

With a restraining order in place hopefully we can see more Maryse on TV. After all, even though she may not be the greatest in the ring, unlike most Divas she actually has a personality that makes her matches fun to watch.

With that said, we go from a Diva with charisma to a couple who seem void of it, Eve Torres and current reigning Diva's Champion Kelly Kelly. There is a rumor going around that WWE Creative is planning to turn one of these girls heel.

The idea of turning Kelly Kelly heel was discussed earlier in the year when she was in the middle of an story with Drew McIntyre. Instead of that happening, though, Kelly began to get over after involving herself in the World Heavyweight Championship fiasco between Dolph Ziggler and Edge.

It resulted with her helping the Rated-R Superstar defending the title on two occasions. Firstly at the Royal Rumble, when she removed Vickie Guerrero from the match up and then during a handicap match on SmackDown where she pinned Layla to retain the title for Edge. Of course this meant she became popular enough to be drafted to Raw and pushed to win the Diva's Championship.

Eve Torres on the other hand has been sparingly used since losing the Diva's Championship to Brie Bella earlier this year. It is unusual for Divas to be featured on main WWE programming when not involved in the title picture. Eve, however, has seen action recently by helping Kelly Kelly with her issues against the Divas of Doom.

Out of the two I would say Eve Torres is most likely of the two if a heel turn is initiated. She could be written as to also be against what Kelly Kelly stands for and only did it because she thought it would help her be more successful. Without the title her actions have proven to be fruitless and she now desires to be taken seriously.

On the other hand I would not say it would be not impossible to turn Kelly heel. If she was to lose her title to Beth Phoenix at Night of Champions it would be more than enough reason. Just because she is the most over face Diva on the roster will not have any bearing either. Sure she might be popular but the deficit would not be great on WWE's finances.

My biggest problem with turning either heel is that the balance of faces and heels is being thrown out a little. There seems to be more credible Divas on one side than the other. If WWE are not careful the face side will consist of almost no women capable of taking on the heels in a realistic manner.
