UFC Extends Michael Bisping's Contract: 8 Fights We Want To See after TUF
With his appearance as coach on Season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter on the horizon, Michael Bisping has secured his future with the UFC by extending his contract with the world's premier MMA organization.
MMA Junkie reported on the deal that will see Bisping compete in at least eight fights after his scheduled bout with fellow The Ultimate Fighter coach Jason Miller.
Of course, Bisping's ability to complete that contract will depend on his ability to continue winning fights.
Here are eight fights we'd all like to see Bisping take after his tilt with Miller.
Yushin Okami
1 of 8After suffering a loss to Anderson Silva, Yushin Okami will have to do plenty of rebuilding before earning another shot at the middleweight title.
One 185-pound fighter Okami hasn't entered the Octagon against yet is Michael Bisping.
Okami may have already proven to be better than Bisping through his other performances, but getting back to being a top contender will be about picking up a large quantity of wins instead of quality right now for Okami.
Rousimar Palhares
2 of 8After handling business against middling competition in the 185-pound divison, Rousimar Palhares finally picked up a big win over a notable middleweight at UFC 134.
With his win over Dan Miller, Palhares will look for another opportunity to mix it up with a middleweight contender.
A fight with Bisping would be an interesting matchup between two competitors with very different styles.
Brian Stann
3 of 8Ever since opposing Dan Henderson as a coach on Season 9 of The Ultimate Fighter, Michael Bisping has been a public enemy among American MMA fans.
On the other side of the spectrum, former U.S. Marine Brian Stann has become one of the most likeable characters in the sport.
An eventual fight between Bisping and Stann would provide the classic good guy versus bad guy scenario.
Chris Leben
4 of 8Since their first meeting in October 2008, which ended in a unanimous decision victory for the two-time The Ultimate Fighter coach, Michael Bisping and Chris Leben have both gone 4-2 in their past six fights.
If the two middleweights continue on a similar path, it would seem only a matter of time until the opportunity for a rematch pops up.
Demian Maia
5 of 8After showing improved striking in his recent bout against Mark Munoz, Demian Maia will be looking to prove himself against a capable striker in order to make another run at a title shot.
Maia has a tough fight against Jorge Santiago coming up.
However, if Maia and Michael Bisping win their upcoming fights, a matchup between the two could catapult the winner into title contention.
Vitor Belfort
6 of 8After the English fighter's regrettable antics following a win over Jorge Rivera, Vitor Belfort was one of several fighters to call Michael Bisping out.
A fight between Belfort and Bisping would make for an interesting striking matchup, where the latter would most likely focus on keeping distance to avoid the speed and power of the former UFC light heavyweight champion.
Matt Hamill
7 of 8In one of the most infamous moments in UFC history, Michael Bisping was awarded an extremely controversial split decision victory over Matt Hamill at UFC 75—an event that took place in Bisping's home country of England.
Unfortunately, Hamill recently retired after a loss to Alexander Gustafsson. However, if there is one fight that could peak Hamill's interest in making a return, it very well might be this rematch with Bisping.
Of course, since Bisping has since dropped from light heavyweight to middleweight, a lot of things would have to fall into place for this fight to happen.
Nonetheless, a fight with Bisping would be a much more intriguing way for Hamill to exit the sport.
Chael Sonnen
8 of 8Before it was announced that Jason Miller would be opposing Michael Bisping on The Ultimate Fighter, Chael Sonnen was not shy about his willingness to fight the Englishman.
Sonnen's ingenious self-promotion makes any of his potential matchups interesting, but given Bisping's history of allowing opponents to get under his skin, Sonnen's trash talking might be taken to a whole new level if these two fighters ever meet.
